Hey #localgov professionals. We are developing a new Conflict Resolution for Local Government online training and will be offering a FREE 1 hour pilot overview of what will be a 3 hour program. We are looking for solid feedback to incorporate into the full program. If you are free and willing to provide feedback please register today. PILOT COURSE: Conflict Resolution for Local Government Webinar November 14, 2024 12:00 - 1:00 PM PT The Davenport Institute is excited to pilot test our new training session on Conflict Resolution for Local Government. This course was developed by one of our Graduate Assistants, Nate Peterson. Participation is free, but in exchange we ask for your feedback. The one-hour overview of Conflict Resolution in Local Government focuses on what conflict is, why it occurs, and how to achieve progress and peace in its resolution. Achieving this means following the Path of Peace - a process that outlines practical steps to achieving a stronger relationship among the parties and creative solutions to what separates them. The Learning Objectives for the 1-hour course are: ● Understand why conflict exists, where it comes from, and why it is not the problem ● Identify what behaviors affect conflict and cause it to persist ● Learn what Peace is and get exposed to the steps on the Path to Peace https://lnkd.in/gxfVJkWE

Once each year we host our City Manager in Residence Program to provide our Pepperdine University School of Public Policy students the opportunity to learn more about local government and have 1:1 meetings with a city manager for #mentoring and learning more about #localgov careers. Yesterday, Malibu City Manager, Steve McClary joined us to share his wisdom and experience. Thank you Steve! #policybeginswithpeople

We are excited to share that one of our amazing Advisory Council members, Amanda Rotella, just graduated from the Santa Clara County Leadership Academy! Congratulations Amanda and thank you for sharing your leadership as both an Advisory Council member and trainer for the Davenport Institute. We appreciate you!
🌟 Honored to share that I’ve graduated from the Santa Clara County Leadership Academy! 🌟 At the graduation, I was humbled to be nominated by my cohort to give a class reflection, and I shared a few of these thoughts: 💠 I so appreciated the Academy’s balanced focus on both technical and soft skills. When I think about the leaders I admire and the kind of leader I want to be, I want to be both knowledgeable, well-versed, and prepared, but also kind, emotionally intelligent, reflective, and humble. 💠 During one of the sessions we dove into our Myers-Briggs personality types. For me it was a real celebration of the different approaches, skills, and contributions that each of us brings to our teams. I truly believe that it is to the benefit of the communities we serve to have diversity in how we approach and solve problems. 💠 Lastly, as someone new to Santa Clara County, I’m incredibly grateful for the Academy relationships I’ve built with such talented, insightful leaders. I look forward to supporting each other as we continue to grow in our careers! Special thank you to Academy organizer Greg Larson, my program coach Lenka Wright, the City of Mountain View, and especially my fellow cohort members.

It has been such an honor to partner with the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® Center for California Real Estate to bring an outstanding educational program (Local Government and Community: Partnering for Success) to realtors throughout California. I sincerely believe that partnerships such as this one are the key to thriving communities where local government and community members work as educated, respectful partners developing solutions and making policy decisions that work to enhance the places we live, work, and play. A special shout out to Anne Framroze and Pete Peterson for their vision that led to the development of this program. #policybeginswithpeople #civicengagement #localgov #community https://lnkd.in/ddRBXhqF
