Over 1,000 trees, including Native trees in good condition, are slated for Phase 1 Removal as part of the Rock Creek Park Rehabilitation Project, approved by the National Capital Planning Commission on Sept. 5, 2024.
How can we stop this tree genocide, deforestation, about to happen right in front of our eyes, not far away in the Amazon, but right here in Washington, DC, the Nation's Capital?

In response to this project, Casey Trees issued a policy statement that “Strongly encourages NPS to limit the removal of healthy trees, in particular healthy trees that fit into the District’s definition of Special and Heritage Trees, even if it means reconfiguring greens and fairways to accommodate those trees.”
