This month’s design feature is the creative mind behind one of Abt’s most notable showrooms, The Inspiration Studio. Meet designer Mick De Giulio. De Giulio has been working with the Abt family for over 30 years, but his firm, de Giulio design, has been creating beautiful home spaces for four decades. Mick is known for his conceptual rethinking of homes and for his artistry in building new levels of versatility into more dynamic, comfortable, and livable spaces. His residential projects spread across North America, Europe, and the Western Pacific. Outside of Abt’s Inspiration Studio (which Mick not only designed, but his firm installed), he’s also designed showrooms for many esteemed appliance brands. De Giulio’s creativity expands beyond just homes—he’s also published two books and has been featured in publications like The Wall Street Journal Architectural Digest , elledecor and more. He is a frequent speaker at industry events and is currently a judge for Sub-Zero Group, Inc.'s prestigious Kitchen Design Contest. Mick De Giulio was offered the job of designing the Abt Inspiration Studio by Bob Abt, who requested a space that was truly “first-class” and would bring endless inspiration to Abt customers. The Inspiration Studio was one of Bob Abt’s final projects. Covering over 10,000 feet of floor space, the Inspiration Studio features 13 unique kitchen builds. Each kitchen is entirely designed around a premium appliance suite from a respected luxury brand. You’ll notice details and one-of-a-kind artisan pieces crafted from brushed stones, German silver, exotic woods, bronze and more, crafted in De Giulio’s own artisanal metalcrafts studio. The Inspiration Studio, which opened in 2016, is an interactive experience where customers can experience live, working products. Designed by De Giulio nearly 10 years ago with an eye toward the future, the spaces look as fresh today as they did when they were installed. “My goal was for each space to have a personality of its own.
