SGT Joseph Nolan was born into a family of service which called him to serve as well--his great-grandfather had served in WWI, his grandfather had served in the Navy during WWII, and his father was a Marine in Vietnam. On this day in 2004, SGT Nolan was in Fallujah providing critical language and cryptologic support to coalition troops when an IED struck his vehicle and killed him. We thank him and his family for their service and sacrifice, today and every day. #DIMFremembers

On this day in 2004, SFC Clinton Lee Wisdom and SGT Don Allen Clary were killed in Baghdad after they positioned their vehicle between a convoy they were assigned to protect and a vehicle driven by insurgents that exploded. Because of their actions, none of the members of the convoy were seriously harmed. We are grateful for their actions and the ultimate sacrifice they made today and every day. #DIMFremembers

Staff Sergeant Kyu Chay immigrated to the United States from South Korea as a child. He later made the decision to forego the rest of law school and enlist in the US Army where he was a talented cryptologic linguist. On October 28, 2006, the vehicle he was traveling in hit an IED while on patrol in Afghanistan and bringing to an end the life of a dedicated father, soldier, and patriot. We thank him and his family every day for their ultimate sacrifice.

On this day in 2010, while performing vital work in Afghanistan, the helicopter carrying CTRCS David “Blake” McLendon and his fellow service members crashed, ending his life and all on board. His legacy of service and sacrifice will forever serve as an inspiration not only to his family and comrades-in-arms, but to all Americans who choose to go in harm’s way for purposes far greater than themselves. #DIMFremembers

CTM3 Matthew O'Bryant was a Navy Cryptologist assigned to Navy Information Operations Command Maryland. His efforts as a cryptologic technician not only enabled his fellow cryptologists to gain knowledge and forewarning of a wide variety of threats, but also gave them the ability to protect the Navy’s own critical information. On this day in 2008, CTM3 O'Bryant was among the more than 50 people killed in a suicide bombing in Islamabad, Pakistan. We're grateful for his service and sacrifice, today and every day. #DIMFremembers

On this day in 2011, SSG Michael Hosey was on his fourth deployment as an intelligence specialist when his unit was attacked by enemy forces while on patrol in Afghanistan--just six days shy of his 28th birthday. For his service in combat, he was posthumously awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star Medal. We are grateful to him for his service to our country, today and every day. #DIMFremembers

Specialist Joshua N. Nelson was committed to gleaning critical intelligence from enemy communications, which helped commanders raise the odds of victory on the battlefield and save lives. On this day in 2012, SPC Nelson was just one month shy of coming home from his deployment in Afghanistan when he and his team were killed. We are forever indebted to him and his family for their ultimate sacrifice. #DIMFremembers
