A HUGE myth about short-form, vertical videos is that they’re easier to produce because they’re, well, shorter. They’re not! From my experience, you have to work a lot harder for every second of a short-form video compared to a longer, landscape format. That’s because when people consume short-form content, they’re in what I call “crazy swipe” mode. It’s like they’re wolfing down candy. Unless every moment tickles their tastebuds, they’ll swipe to the next video. So you have to work like mad with a hook at the beginning, mini-hooks throughout, and tons of flashy editing to keep them watching. Yes, long-form videos also require work, but not to such a manic degree. 🙂 Please keep this in mind if you plan to include short-form video content into your 2025 LinkedIn strategy. Wondering who sees your posts? LinkedIn uses a hierarchy of groups to “test” the strength of your content and delivers it in this order: 1. Bell ringers – These folks opted in via the notifications bell on your profile to be notified when you post. 2. Core circle – They’re your peeps! They interact the most with your content and are typically followers. This may be about 7% of your followers. 3. New connections – This is especially true in the first couple weeks after connecting. 4. Active followers – They’re active on LinkedIn, even if they don’t specifically engage with you. 5. Others in your expanded network – Assuming your post is awesome and gets this far, it’ll be shown to others beyond your first-degree network. While I don’t obsess about the LinkedIn algorithm (and you shouldn’t either), I’m sharing this article below because it contains some interesting nuggets. ☺️ Just remember to focus on the VALUE of your content – that’s 90% of your success!
