About us

Delta Cooling Towers was founded in 1971 to manufacture and market corrosion proof, seamless, and low maintenance High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) cooling towers. Delta Cooling Towers are made from a CORROSION PROOF engineered plastic. The cooling tower shell will never rust, flake, chip, peel or ever need painting or protective coatings applied. Delta believes its towers are the future of the industry. Metal towers do not have the long-term corrosion protection advantages for outdoor usage. The galvanizing or other metal treatments only delay the corrosion of the underlying, often thin gauge sheet metal. Delta manufactures a totally SEAMLESS cooling tower. Delta towers are the only large packaged cooling towers in the industry that have a “one-piece” shell. This means there are no seems, panels, rivets or hundreds of fasteners to fail or compromise the performance or integrity of the product. Delta stands behind its products with the best warranty in the industry. Delta provides a 20-YEAR WARRANTY on the cooling towers structural shell. In addition, Delta’s cooling tower motors have a 5-year warranty. Delta Cooling Towers are LOW MAINTENANCE by design. Delta has carefully designed its products to have minimal maintenance issues. Other manufacturers of cooling towers have much more complicated designs to achieve the same performance. This includes many more parts – which are more potential maintenance or require the maintenance of other towers. On Delta towers there are no gear reducers, couplings, additional shafts, or extra bearings to maintain. Delta prides itself on exceptional CUSTOMER SERVICE. Our “can-do” mindset allows us to meet or exceed any customer’s cooling tower requirements. We offer many product options and can provide any accessories associated with cooling towers.

  • The GE Aerospace additive manufacturing facility in West Chester, Ohio, recently encountered a challenge with cooling its brand-new metal 3D printing process. The aviation company was working on a state-of-the-art approach to manufacture metal aircraft parts utilizing laser 3D printers. While lasers themselves are not hot, the heat produced when the photons come in contact with metals can be significant. “The facility was looking for a cooling tower that would provide some longevity and would not require a lot of maintenance or repairs,” explains Steve Coppock, Consulting Engineer at Armour & Associates. “We’ve had a lot of success with the engineered plastic cooling towers from Delta Cooling and recommended them for this application.” Made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), our engineered plastic cooling towers are corrosion-proof, offer exceptional durability, require significantly less maintenance, as well as an easier and quicker installation. • Legionella is the bacteria that causes Legionnaires' disease, a severe form of lung infection. Found naturally in freshwater environments like lakes and streams, Legionella becomes a health hazard when it grows unabated in water that is not properly treated. While this can include showerheads, hot tubs and water heaters, a significant number of outbreaks have originated in cooling towers. “A cooling tower is the perfect breeding ground for Legionella because it’s wet, humid, and exposed to sunlight,” explains Zach McKinney, sales engineer at Bluegrass Hydronics and Pump. “The Legionella will colonize on the walls of the tower, and the colony will grow bigger and bigger.” Our engineered plastic cooling tower can be molded with special antimicrobial additives which are compounded throughout the plastic. These resins contain wide-spectrum additives that operate on a cellular level to continuously disrupt and prevent uncontrolled growth of microorganisms and biofilm within the cooling tower. • Additive Manufacturing (AM) is booming. According to a recent report, the sector will double in size by 2028 and exceed $15 billion. Traditionally AM, also referred to as 3D printing, focused on plastics, but today the industry is expanding to include a growing list of metals that can be processed on sophisticated 3D laser printers. With these advances comes a new challenge: managing excessive heat loads. Utilizing plastics in additive manufacturing requires relatively low temperatures, often under 300 degrees Celsius. With metal, however, the print media can reach temperatures ranging from 1,100-1,400 degrees C. To mitigate the heat, our engineered plastic cooling towers are increasingly being employed to cool the process water down. • Our cooling towers are seemingly everywhere these days. We cool power plants, chemical and petroleum refineries, steel mills, paper mills, and many other manufacturing processes. We also help HVAC systems provide comfortable cooling for large commercial buildings like airports, offices, schools, hospitals, or hotels. Since we pioneered the first HDPE cooling towers in the 1970s, we have become the cooling tower of choice for just about every process out there. With our 20-year warranty and non-corrosive shell, the only reason someone would not choose Delta is if they simply haven’t heard of us. So, let’s spread the word. Please SHARE this and our other posts, so more people can benefit from engineered plastic cooling tower technology. #HDPE #HVAC #DeltaCooling #CoolingTowers

  • “Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when they come for you?” The noise police are coming. That’s because noise pollution on some commercial HVAC equipment has become an increasingly unwanted problem for communities across the nation in recent years. So much so that local governments are getting involved. For example, the Franklin Institute building in Philadelphia recently replaced its cooling towers and by city ordinance, it was mandated to restrict the sound output to less than 50 decibels, which is way less than what a traditional cooling tower produces. With our engineered plastic cooling towers, they not only achieved better pricing but also easily met the city’s noise level requirements. Ready to rid yourself of the noise? • When the phone rang, Bob Gant answered. On the other end was a sophisticated sheet steel fabricator who was interested in a cooling tower made of engineered plastic. It was a bit surprising for Gant to have a sheet metal manufacturer see the value in engineered plastic. After all, for many years galvanized steel had been the de facto standard material for lining cooling towers. “Of course, I was well aware of the advantages of engineered plastic cooling towers,” explains Gant. “But when it comes from a company that makes sheet steel, I was impressed.” While “traditional” metal cooling towers are still common, they are notorious for being problematic. To begin with, they require a lot of maintenance due to rust, corrosion, and leakage – all of which increase downtime. “Those disruptions are invariably expensive,” explains Gant, an engineer at the Delta West Virginia manufacturing plant. “Any unplanned shutdown in process industries can be disastrous, in some instances costing ten-of-thousands of dollars an hour.” In the end, the sheet steel manufacturer chose our modular TM series cooling towers which can be combined in a cluster, making installation faster, easier, and less expensive. So, while sheet steel manufacturers may make their money selling metal, they can still see the value in buying engineered plastic. #HDPE #DeltaCooling #CoolingTowers #DeltaWest
