The Northwest Indiana Tree Planting Consortium recently concluded an exceptionally productive planting season, and we're proud to share a recap of the progress we've made toward our goals. In collaboration with the Student Conservation Association, Davey Tree Experts, and numerous government bodies, we -- ✅ Planted 1,783 trees. ✅ Hosted over a dozen free trainings and educational planting events. ✅ Improved canopy cover, stormwater retention, and soil health throughout Lake County, which had lost more tree canopy than any other Indiana county in recent decades. ✅ Strategized future project expansion with other communities in the region. Delta is thankful for the many community members and organizations that are driving the success of this coalition. We're so excited to see this initiative grow in the coming years! We're so ready! 💪🏽 🩵 🌱 Thank you National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for announcing the news that Delta Institute will be leading an effort to restore habitat across 11.7 acres and improve water quality on Chicago's Southeast Side, capturing 2.45 million(!) stormwater gallons annually. Ever since I got involved with @delta-institute, I feel like I’ve been involved in something special. Delta collaborates to solve complex environmental challenges impacting Midwest communities. As a board member, it’s been an honor for me to help advance this work alongside some truly talented staff, exceptional board members, engaged partners, and committed supporters.
