What an amazing day at The Beach in Aalsmeer with our De Monchy Natural Products team, joined by other companies from the Monchy group and close business partners, for our Beach Volleyball Tournament! This tournament wasn’t just about friendly competition, it was an impactful #fundraiser for the Monchy Trivium Foundation. 🌱 Successful Ecocert Organic Audit in Madagascar with 0 Non-Compliance! A big congratulations to our teams in Sambava and Ambanja, Madagascar, for recently passing the ECOCERT Group #organic certification renewal with zero non-compliance! This achievement is a testament to the hard work and meticulous attention to detail that goes into maintaining the integrity of our organic processes year after year. The audit reaffirmed our commitment to strict adherence to organic principles, from robust #traceability systems to sustainable land management practices. About SYMABIO: Established in 2011, Symabio is a key organization dedicated to promoting organic farming in Madagascar. The union represents a network of producers and businesses committed to sustainable agricultural practices and the certification of #organic products in accordance with international standards. With over 5,000 rural producers, Symabio plays a significant role in advancing responsible farming methods that support both local communities and environmental conservation. Our Commitment: By becoming a member of SYMABIO, De Monchy Natural Products reinforces its commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing. Through this partnership, we aim to contribute to: 1. The promotion of biodiversity and ecological farming practices, which help protect Madagascar’s unique ecosystems. 2. Today, the Madagascar government released a new decree unveiling the export opening date for the 2024-2025 crop. Starting October 1st 2024, authorised vanilla exporters will be allowed to begin exporting their products. To add some context to this decree, here are 4 key takeaways: 1.⁠ ⁠It is important to note that unlike the past 2 seasons, this year's opening date is set at a traditionally normal schedule for the Madagascar vanilla industry. The decree also sets the closing date of exports to the end of June 2025, a logical deadline if we want to avoid the overlapping of 2 seasons during the summer and the risks of mixing immature beans from 2 different crops. We welcome these developments and initiatives from the new Minister of Industrialization and Trade in Madagascar. 2.⁠ ⁠Despite rumors, there is currently no official minimum export price in place. That said, this is no guarantee we will not face the application of an un-official minimum export price, as was the case last July when it was un-officially set from $40 to $60 per kg. This important factor still needs to be clarified and confirmed in the upcoming months. 3.⁠ ⁠Overall, the industry has been asking for more visibility, and the clear communication on opening dates is a step in the right direction which will help all actors along the supply chain, including farmers. 4.⁠ ⁠Market-wise, although the 2024 production was estimated 30% lowered than the 2023 crop, we still don't expect it having a major impact on prices, for the reason that most end buyers are covered and there are still remaining stocks outside Madagascar. This is also illustrated by the 2024 exports reaching way above 4,000MT as of July, with still some stock available on the island. -- #export #madagascar #vanilla #crop

The week was filled with insightful meetings, strategy discussions, and impactful training sessions. Our Management Team not only learned and grew together but also enjoyed bonding through memorable dinners and a fun scavenger hunt in The Hague. For over 5 years, the Monchy Trivium Foundation has helped sustaining livelihoods in several regions across the world, such as Bolivia, Tanzania, Vietnam, Indonesia and #Madagascar, where the companies of the group are present or source their raw materials.
