With so much online shopping during the festive season, buyers may worry their parcels may not arrive in time. But some cyber criminals will use this to take advantage of people waiting on that delivery. Scammers may pretend to be a mail service and ask for additional payments or urgent action via text, phone call or email. This can lead to stolen money or personal details, including your name, address and contact information. This festive season we encourage Victorians to consider the risk and take a scam second look before paying that delivery fee or sending off a reply message. Use Service Victoria’s spot a scam tool to test your scam knowledge at https://lnkd.in/gk9PTNnm You can also check the warning signs at vic.gov.au/phishing #StaySafeOnline #SpotAScam

The Victorian government is working to make it easier for Victorian families to find support when they need it. If you’re a parent, carer, kinship carer or foster carer to children aged 0 – 12, your experiences can help guide this work. We all have a part to play in creating an inclusive and diverse community in Victoria. Today we celebrated International Day of People with Disability. This year's theme focuses on amplifying the leadership of people with disability. Tricia Malowney OAM CF DLI MAICD BA is Chief Accessibility Advocate at Department of Transport and Planning. And, she's a fantastic standup (or “sitdown”) comedian! Today, she entertained and illuminated us with stories of her life in the workforce as a person with disability. Helen Karagiozakis from the Victorian Department of Health and Bec Prideaux from Homes Victoria then joined Tricia for a panel discussion. A key message from the discussion was the importance of leaders in disability not being those with the titles, but those driving the change from the middle. Many thanks to the Combined Enablers Network from Department of Premier and Cabinet (Vic), Department of Treasury and Finance, Victoria and our department for making this event happen!

Everyone deserves to be safe in their homes and on the streets. We all deserve a world where we don’t feel like we need to look over our shoulder walking home at night. But harmful ideas – like the belief that men are ‘owed’ sex, or that they should use violence to get respect – drive violence against women. All of us can help change these harmful ideas to make our communities safe. Join the 16 Days of Activism and help build communities where women are safe and equal. It all starts with respect.
