Irthi’s series brings the sophistication and exquisite detailing of luxury٬ handmade crafts to everyday items; making accessibility a central focus and creating a symbiotic relationship between rural makers and the urban markets that are served by them. By weaving the worlds of Talli and marquetry together, Irthi and Nada Debs introduce an intricately crafted interpretation of the vessels traditionally carried by Bedouin women. The forms, typically used for copper pots, are translated into solid oak and woven with narratives uniting the journeys and expertise of craftsmen and craftswomen from different parts of the region. The result is a contemporary collection of three multifunctional bowls. https://bit.ly/3OPJGR6 @irthicouncil @nadadebs

In New York, Friedman Benda presents Lebanese-French designer Najla El Zein’s second solo show with the gallery, entitled Opacity, transparency, and everything in between. The exhibition features new works in glass as well as multi-person seating in ceramic, travertine, and ceppo—the result of El Zein’s weaving together of personal reflections with material explorations. As she notes: “Opacity, transparency, and everything in between reflects on one’s initial perceptions, misunderstandings, and the necessity to decipher the layers beneath, as truth often lies between the lines.” Visit the link below to learn more. https://bit.ly/4cyCcMG 📷 Courtesy of Friedman Benda and Najla El Zein Photography by Diana Merhez
