India doesn’t allow its citizens to hold dual citizenship, but as an NRI, you can apply for Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) — 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚. ➡️ 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐎𝐂𝐈: → A former 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧 who held an Indian passport → 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧 or OCI cardholder for at least two years → 𝐀𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭, or great-grandparent were an Indian citizen on or after Jan 26, 1950 📌 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐎𝐂𝐈 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮: → Travel: Freedom to travel in and out of India → Can live and work in India indefinitely (except govt jobs and specific professions → 𝐍𝐨 𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: But you won’t have the right to vote in elections → Cannot buy agricultural land or plantations. 🔹 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬: If you're not eligible for OCI, you can still enter India on a tourist visa.
