Most people in IT are familiar with the Center for Internet Security’s CIS Critical Security Controls. However, have you ever noticed that much of them seems to be very much focused on on-premise systems? In the age of cloud computing and software as a service, this seems a little bit outdated. CIS has somewhat acknowledged it by publishing the Microsoft 365 Foundations and Google Workspace Foundations Benchmarks. However, as we all know there are many more SaaS applications and many of them hold a lot of important or even sensitive data. So, what would it look like to apply the CIS Controls to SaaS applications in general?
