Last week, the Detroit Riverfront community lost one of our most dedicated volunteers and partners, Regina Lawson. Regina was a long-time volunteer with the Conservancy, serving for over 13 years and donating over 1,000 hours. Combining her love for the Detroit Riverfront with her passion for the natural world, Regina lead the Herbal Walk & Talk program at Milliken State Park, educating visitors about nature and the interesting ways we can use weeds and herbs for medicinal use and survival. Regina's laughter, passion, spirit and advocacy will be greatly missed by all of us at the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.

"The Huron-Clinton Metroparks' robust parks system has never included a Detroit location, but that will change next year with the opening of a Metroparks-branded attraction at Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Centennial Park." As part of the "Equity in our Parks" series, our very own Vice President of Operations & Programming, Rachel Frierson, spoke with Metromode about the partnership between the Detroit Riverfront and Huron-Clinton Metroparks, and breaking down barriers in the City of Detroit.
