In an environment where the U.S. Army rotorcraft acquisition needs to be faster … smarter … cheaper … how do you achieve that without compromising the safety of the #Soldier? HELIOS. Time to put your thinking caps 🎩 on: HELIOS models the coupled aerodynamic and structural dynamics response of the vehicle using computational fluid dynamics codes for aerodynamics, computational structural dynamics to model structural bending and trim software with multi-body dynamics to set the controls to achieve vehicle trim. Simply put? HELIOS software code makes accurate aeromechanics predictions of rotorcraft performance under a variety of flight conditions. And it was created at U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center. #WeAreAvMC | #TechTuesday

“Each day brings a fresh hope that perhaps I can help people, at various levels, to resolve complex situations and assist them to fulfill their roles even more effectively. Our collaborative successes then lead to downstream outcomes -- potentially in hostile areas -- wherein Soldiers benefit by having safer, more suitable and logistically supportable weapon systems to successfully perform their critical missions.” Mr. Keith Darrow, Director of AvMC’s Systems Readiness Directorate After 40 years of distinguished service as a Soldier and civil servant leader, Mr. Darrow is retiring this month and will be greatly missed by his team at SRD and the Center as a whole. Mission accomplished, Sir. #MotivationMonday | #WeAreAvMC

Today we salute our own Loren Vigil, who is a quality assurance specialist in the Center’s Prototype Integration Facility. Thank you for your service. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ “For me Veterans Day means honoring everyone who answered the call to serve our country. I am a veteran because my father instilled patriotism and the love of country in me at an early age. Today, I reflect on 22 years of service with a tremendous sense of pride for our country and all the great people I served with. Having participated in four deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I think of countless examples of great courage and sacrifice from Soldiers and their families. The best thing about Veterans Day is remember those who have gone before us, what great Soldiers they were, and taking time to thank our Veterans who continue to serve our government and communities today by carrying on the legacy of selfless service.” #VeteransWeek | #WeAreAvMC
