Remix or Exploit? A.R. Rahman Speaks Out on Music’s Evolving Landscape Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman recently stirred the pot with his outspoken criticisms of remix culture and the growing influence of artificial intelligence (AI) in the music industry. His remarks, made during an interview with The Week, highlight crucial concerns about originality and ethical practices in music production. But as we delve into this discussion, it’s important to consider not only the validity of Rahman’s points but also the reality that AI is set to play an increasingly significant role in shaping the future of music. The Remix Dilemma: A Double-Edged Sword Remixing has been a staple in Bollywood for decades, evolving from a creative reinterpretation of old classics to a commercialized practice that often seems to lack respect for original artistry. Rahman’s frustration with this trend is palpable. “You can’t take a song from a movie and use it in another movie six years later, calling it a reimagining,” he argues. This raises an essential question: When does homage cross the line into exploitation? for the full article follow the link... https://lnkd.in/gy3U45S6 #ArRahman #arrahmanmusic #music #musicindustry #aimusic #remix #AI #artificialintelligence #AITrends #AINews #trends #indian #indianmusic #DhakaAI

Bangladeshi Journalists Embrace AI, but Newsroom Adoption Remains Limited In a recent survey conducted by the Media Resources Development Initiative (MRDI), findings reveal that while many journalists in Bangladesh are individually leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) tools, institutional adoption within newsrooms is significantly lagging. The assessment, titled “Media Metamorphosis: AI and Bangladeshi Newsrooms 2024,” highlights this dichotomy in AI usage among journalists and their respective organizations. The study surveyed 53 journalists from 25 different news outlets and included focus group discussions (FGDs) and interviews with 13 editors and key figures from various media platforms, including print, television, and online. The initiative, supported by Digitally Right and funded by The Asia Foundation, aims to understand AI usage patterns in Bangladeshi journalism, address ethical concerns, and identify gaps that hinder improved adoption of AI technologies. for the full news follow the link... https://lnkd.in/gv7MqMVu #Ai #NewsRoom #News #Journalist #AiNews #AITrends #AiInBangladesh #AiInDhaka #DhakaAi #Bangladesh #Survey

Google DeepMind Unveils Invisible Watermarking Technique for AI-Generated Text Google DeepMind has developed an innovative watermarking technique called SynthID-Text, which aims to invisibly label text produced by artificial intelligence. Reported in Nature, this development has the potential to address critical issues like academic dishonesty and the spread of misinformation while also helping to mitigate problems associated with retraining chatbots on their own outputs. The Need for Watermarking As the prevalence of AI-generated text increases, so do concerns about its misuse. Governments and organizations are increasingly looking for solutions to curb academic cheating and the proliferation of fake news. Watermarking has emerged as a promising method to identify AI-generated content, allowing for more responsible usage of language models (LLMs) and reducing the likelihood of model collapse—a phenomenon where models degrade when retrained on their own outputs. for the full article follow the link... https://lnkd.in/g_NYC_Zu #Google #GoogleDeepmind #Ai #AigeneratedText #AiNews #AItrends #DhakaAi
