The 2024 DIA Middle East & North Africa (MENA) Conference successfully concluded last week in Cairo, bringing together over 250 participants from across the region and beyond. 🌍👏This achievement would not have been possible without the contributions of our distinguished speakers, engaged attendees, dedicated programme committee members, and DIA members. In partnership with the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), this two-day conference provided an invaluable platform to address opportunities and challenges within the MENA pharmaceutical landscape. 🌟 Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including regional regulatory developments, digital transformation, reliance, clinical trials, and more. During the Opening Ceremony and Gala Dinner at the historic Manial Palace (Prince Mohamed Ali Palace), we were proud to honor the two winners of the DIA 2025 Regional Inspire Award for Excellence in Service: 🏆 Catherine Al Ashram, 🏆 Shahinaz Badr Another key highlight was the MENA Pharmacovigilance Workshop, which explored the region’s evolving pharmacovigilance landscape, including regulatory updates, orphan drug advancements, AI applications, and healthcare challenges, with expert-led discussions. Under the Auspices of the Egyptian Drug Authority Launch of the Middle East and North Africa Pharmaceutical Information Association Conference Professor Dr. Aiman El-Khatib, Vice President of the Egyptian Drug Authority, participated in the opening of the Middle East and North Africa Pharmaceutical Information Association (DIA) Conference, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt from November 26 to 27, 2024. In his opening remarks, Dr. Aiman El-Khatib extended a warm welcome to all participants and participating organizations at this year's conference. He expressed the Egyptian Drug Authority's pride in hosting this important regional event, which brings together a select group of pharmaceutical industry leaders, officials from regional and international regulatory authorities, and a distinguished group of academics working in various fields of pharmaceutical research. The Vice President of the EDA emphasized the Egyptian Drug Authority's keenness to promote innovation and develop regulatory systems to ensure the provision of safe and effective medicines for all patients, noting the EDA’s commitment to enhancing regional and international cooperation to achieve regulatory integration and harmony. The conference aims to create an effective environment that allows all stakeholders to share the challenges facing the future of the pharmaceutical industry, agree on realistic scenarios, and discuss the best ways to move forward and work together to find innovative solutions. The conference derives its strength from bringing together a broad representation of stakeholders involved in the drug development lifecycle, starting with health authorities, industry leaders, academics, and extending to patient representatives. The conference focuses on a range of important topics, including regional regulatory developments, regulatory strategies, regulatory integration and harmony, digital transformation, pharmacovigilance, and innovation. The conference reflects the ongoing efforts of the Egyptian Drug Authority to enhance Egypt's position as a regional center for innovation in the pharmaceutical industry and to support the development of health systems to improve health services at both the national and regional levels. This comes within the framework of the EDA’s keenness to participate in and host international forums, and to enhance cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals, which positively impacts the growth of the national economy and encourages pharmaceutical investment, in accordance with the Egyptian political vision. #EgyptianDrugAuthority #EgyptianDrugAuthorityMediaCenter #EgyptianPharmaceuticals
