OpenOximetry Collaborative Community: Seeks to improve the safety and accuracy of pulse oximeters in all populations. They serve crucial roles not only in diagnosing and treating illness but also in preventive care, public health initiatives, and even economic stabilization II. Resilience The necessity for resilient healthcare systems has been brought into sharp focus by recent global health emergencies. There is a compelling, urgent need to prioritize and bolster healthcare systems’ resilience, paving the way for a more robust, adaptive, and effective crisis management infrastructure. III. A Framework 1. Core Resilience Development This process necessitates the meticulous management and refinement of the inherent capabilities and distinctive characteristics that have previously fortified the system amidst crisis scenarios 2. Data Collection and Management Given the dynamic nature of the healthcare system, there is an inherent necessity to amass a diverse array of data, encompassing performance indicators, the service quality, environmental factors, hazards, experiential learnings, capacities, resources 3. Situation Analysis The landscape of situational alterations is subject to continual monitoring and analysis, with the objective of discerning and scrutinizing conditions being deemed critical 4. Action Authorization Each healthcare system is obliged to make cautious decisions grounded on the unique features, imperatives, and demands it discerns amidst a crisis. These decisions, fundamentally, are organizational actions that health systems need to take to enhance their resilience and effectively manage shocks and crises 5. Evaluation The final stage entails a thorough evaluation of the authorized interventions implemented to address the identified crises, along with an assessment of their outcomes III. Outlook By advancing beyond existing crisis management models, this framework is specially tailored for a comprehensive analysis of healthcare systems. "WASHINGTON, Jan. 29, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Alliance for Pediatric Device Innovation (APDI) and Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) have teamed up to provide a unique opportunity for innovators of pediatric medical devices, diagnostics and digital health solutions. The organizations are inviting submissions for a pitch competition that emphasizes the development of medical countermeasures (MCMs) – innovations designed to address the unique healthcare needs of children during pandemics and other disasters. MCMs play a pivotal role in bolstering readiness and response capabilities to disasters arising from a broad spectrum of threats. Competition awardees will receive grant funding provided by the Health and Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and comprehensive support services provided by APDI and PPN. An additional incentive is the potential for a second year of funding, based on the awardees’ progress in the first year. Organizers are particularly interested in funding research and development (R&D) initiatives focused on pioneering early-stage medical technologies tailored to tackle disasters.
