What differentiates Discover Collection?
Firstly, the magical destinations, locations and properties which make up the Collection.
Secondly, the ways in which the different types of properties are influenced by the local culture. From safaris in Africa to castles in Europe and pool villas by the beach.
The experiential has always been a passion of mine and it is being elevated to a new level at Discover Collection. We want to help members get under the skin of a destination through curated, custom made excursions. These will include experiences with people from the destination, who have true and genuine insights.
We look forward to sharing more with you all soon.
Last week, our Global Director Development & Wellbeing Chunxia Gao attended the annual Global Wellness Summit in St Andrews, Scotland.
In between cold water swims and morning beach runs, Chunxia attended seminars, discussions and workshops led by industry leaders. Here she shares her key takeaways from the three-day event:
1. Mental wellness is among the fastest-growing sectors in the wellness economy, expanding from USD 150 billion in 2019 to USD 232.6 billion in 2023. It affects all age groups and demographics. Creative pursuits, growth and learning, rest and rejuvenation, as well as connection with others, are all ways to support mental health.
2. Workplace wellbeing can be improved through stronger ties and bonds. What matters more than compensation is the sense of belonging.
3. Wellness is personal but also collective: it’s vital to explore ways we can foster connection in a disconnected world. Communal wellness is transformative, from social wellbeing clubs to team sports.
4. Bathing traditions around the world are on the rise. From hot springs and ice baths to social bathing events that blend physical, social, and spiritual wellness practices.
5. AI has great potential to revolutionise wellness, healthcare, and personalisation.
6. Customers often don't know exactly what they want; instead of asking, we should create bespoke wellness experiences based on their needs and desires to feel good.
7. Youth are increasingly affected by social media addiction, but outdoor activities like sports, adventure, music, art, and conservation efforts can help counteract this.
8. Wellness is a balance between technology advances, like AI, and nature-based practices, such as wild swims and park runs. There is a time and place for both, so find what works for you personally and business wise.
9. Water is a scarce resource, which spa and wellness facilities rely on. But individual businesses can choose processes that reduce water usage and waste, having a positive impact on the wellbeing of the community and on the planet. We can work to close the loop, regenerate and give it back.
10. We need to change the narrative around climate change and talk about celebrations, love and hope, rather than fear. Stories that inspire change will have a bigger, long term impact.
Which of these resonate most with you? Were you at the Summit too - please share other insights with us.
What's the opposite of greenwash marketing? Encouraging others to copy inspiring initiatives.
With sustainability, it's crucial to encourage others to copy good ideas.

Discover the uncommon: a new management company with twice the passion and zero compromises. Too good to be true?
I thought so initially, but after meeting former Six Senses President Bernhard (BB) Bohnenberger recently to discuss his new hotel management company, I'm less doubtful. Several high-profile owners have signed up to BB's idealistic vision and are already building a dozen authentic niche resorts in unique locations bearing his company’s name, Discover Collection.
“I’ve told myself that for this new brand, there is no compromise anymore. I only want to work with people I enjoy working with, and who hopefully enjoy working with me and the team,” BB told me.
He won’t compromise on exclusiveness. Guests won’t see any neighboring hotels whether their Discover Collection hotel is on a beach, island or in a mountain valley.
Nor would Discover Collection invite other properties managed by another operator into the portfolio.
Nor would he rebrand existing independent hotels into Discover Collection for expansion’s sake.
A dream hotel management company is in the making. Can it withstand a highly competitive space?

After almost three decades at the helm of Six Senses, Bernhard (BB) Bohnenberger embarked on a new journey with Discover Collection, a company redefining luxury hospitality by creating extraordinary, eco-conscious settings. So it’s no coincidence that The Great Room matched his vision for unparalleled excellence.
Like a club where everything is set up for success, Bernhard values spaces that are relaxed but productive. Perhaps throw in a view over Bangkok whether he’s meeting clients or collaborating with his team.
Bernhard believes in making work enjoyable, and the productivity will follow. His mornings are fueled by riding, swimming, or pilates—activities that keep him energised and ready to lead with purpose. Thanks Bernhard for keeping us In Great Company!

We love the colours of Amboseli.
The name "Amboseli" comes from a Maasai word "Empusel" meaning "salty dust place", and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants.
Excited to share these teaser shots from a recent visit to one of our Discover Collection sites...
