We’re delighted to announce that we were winners in not one but *two* categories at this week’s AFSIA (Africa Solar Industry Association) Solar Awards! d.light was named ‘Solar Home Systems Company of the Year’ in recognition of our work installing solar in 1.7 million African homes over the past 12 months. We were also joint winners in the ‘Deal/Financing Program of the Year’ category for our USD$176 million securitized financing facility that we opened in partnership with African Frontier Capital (AFC). This crucial project will enable affordable access to clean energy for approximately six million people in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda across the next three years. Our success at the AFSIA Awards is the latest in a series of recent accolades for d.light, following our Earthshot Prize nomination in September: and our CEO Nedjip Tozun being named to the 2024 TIME100 Climate list earlier this month. Bringing Light and Hope to Otodo Health Center with the d.light iMax10 At the Otodo Health Center in Asaga Ohafia, Abia State, Nigeria, life used to be a daily struggle against darkness. Without reliable electricity, early closures were common, and medical care suffered. The impact wasn’t just operational—it was deeply human. For years, darkness plagued their operations. Medical staff struggled, and critical treatments were delayed, including the case of baby Aisha, born with jaundice. Without power for the phototherapy equipment, her life hung in the balance. Precious time slipped away as the staff watched helplessly. The arrival of the d.light iMAX 10 solar inverter changed everything. Today, Otodo Health Center operates with unmatched efficiency, its premises illuminated with reliable power. Medical staff now perform at their best, free from the constraints of grid power. Treatments are timely, lives are saved, and the community thrives with the assurance of sustainable energy. The iMax10 isn’t just powering the center—it’s empowering the community. It’s enabling healthcare workers to focus on what matters most: caring for patients and transforming lives. This is why we do what we do at d.light. Every story like this reminds us of the incredible potential of renewable energy to make a real, human impact. With the iMax10, we’re ensuring that every life counts.
