Providing unrestricted resources to Indigenous organizations working for environmental justice in their communities
About us
The Dollar a Day Fund for Indigenous Environmental Justice’s mission is to increase individuals’ awareness of the Indigenous environmental justice movement and the unrestricted resources directed to organizations working for environmental justice in their communities. The Dollar a Day Fund works towards this mission by mobilizing resources to support Indigenous-led organizations working on addressing environmental justice issues. Some examples of issues include but are not limited to resource extraction, health impacts of environmental injustice and land theft in Indigenous communities, and the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit (MMIWG2S) epidemic. The fund will also support Indigenous grantmaking and capacity building organizations that have played a key role in supporting Indigenous organizations.

This holiday season, consider shopping at Native-owned businesses! 🎁 We’re often asked by non-Natives if it’s appropriate to buy Native-made goods, to which we always say: Absolutely! By buying Native-made, you’re not only supporting local Indigenous artists and communities, but also getting to enjoy quality items that celebrate our diverse Peoples and cultures. However, be very wary of vendors using language such as “Native-inspired” instead of “authentic” or “Native-made.” Thanks to the 1990 Indian Arts and Crafts Act, it is illegal for non-Native brands or artists to falsely claim that an item is crafted by a Native or Indigenous artist. As a result, “Native-inspired” is the term we most commonly see non-Native brands use to market their products. Tag your favorite Native-owned businesses in the comments below! And to our business-owning relatives, give your store a shout-out so we can shop your stock! 🛍️ #NativeMade #ShopNative #HolidayShopping #NativeBusiness #NativeLed #Indigenous #NativeAmerican #Native

"Indigenous organizations don’t need another layer of bureaucracy to get funding," says Yisroel Quint, Founder of the Dollar a Day Fund for Indigenous Environmental Justice. This all-volunteer fund is proving that trust-based philanthropy works—empowering Indigenous-led organizations with unrestricted grants, no reporting requirements, and technical assistance tailored to their needs. Since 2020, the fund has unlocked over $3 million for Indigenous-led ecosystem restoration while distributing $243,000 in unrestricted funding directly to Tribal Nations and organizations. Blue Forest has collaborated with the fund to connect 14 of our Tribal partners to resources that amplify their vision for restoring forests, watersheds, and communities. By embracing Indigenous frameworks for partnership and giving, the Dollar a Day Fund exemplifies what’s possible when philanthropy is relational, responsive, and equitable. Together, we can learn from and amplify these models to build a more resilient, equitable future. 👉 Read the full story on our blog: https://lnkd.in/gt9uDWfw 🌟 Explore their work or contribute to their cause: https://lnkd.in/gBXerXsJ

Honored that Blue Forest and Saraya Hamidi chose to highlight the work of Dollar a Day Fund for Indigenous Environmental Justice in their newsletter and blog. Thank you! “‘At the end of the day, our team of volunteers is only accountable to the community,’ Yisroel says. Each member is inspired by their own relations and heritage. As the grandson of a Holocaust survivor, Yisroel recognizes the impacts of genocide and intends to support work that restores Indigenous well-being on the community’s terms.” https://lnkd.in/gyc_ptVv

🪶 Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a day that has been reclaimed in a testament to the strength of Native organizing in recent years. With climate change fueling more powerful and destructive storms, we must urgently implement traditional Indigenous stewardship practices and ecological knowledge of living in balance with the natural world. As Indigenous peoples have always done, we’re standing for sovereignty, economic justice, and saving Mother Earth. Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day, today and everyday.
