We are thrilled to announce that Christina Blum has joined Doma Title Insurance as Vice President, Regional Underwriting Counsel overseeing our Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas regions. Christina brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as assistant vice president and underwriting counsel at a national title insurance #underwriter, where she handled intricate residential and commercial real estate transactions. Her background also includes a role as senior associate attorney at Langley & Banack, Inc., specializing in banking and real estate law. In her new role, Christina will provide crucial support to independent agents across the tri-state area and collaborate closely with Doma Enterprise and Lennar Title in Texas. Danielle Kaiser, Vice President and Deputy Chief Underwriting Counsel for Doma’s Midwest region, praised Christina's pragmatic approach to underwriting and her adept problem-solving skills, emphasizing her positive impact on agent transactions. Christina earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Minor in Political Science from Elmhurst College and her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Law Center. She is licensed to practice law in Texas and Nebraska, actively participating in the business law, corporate counsel, and real estate sections of the Texas Bar. She is a member of the San Antonio Bar Association. Additionally, Christina serves as the local legislative liaison for the Texas Land Title Association (TLTA). Excited about joining Doma, Christina values the company's collaborative culture and its commitment to innovation in a challenging legal landscape. She aims to streamline underwriting processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility for agents. Beyond her professional endeavors, Christina enjoys #volunteering at a local cat shelter and cheering on her daughter at gymnastic competitions. As we celebrate Pride Month this June, we took the opportunity to sit down with Chris McChesney, Chief Claims Counsel for Doma and Executive Champion of the company’s Pride Employee Resource Group (ERG). In previous years, Chris served as Co-Chair of the ERG, and he has been an advocate for greater awareness within the title industry regarding the #LGBTQIA+ community. The ERG, one of the first groups formed at Doma, set a precedent as Doma became one of the pioneering title insurance companies to actively support diversity and pride. Over the years, Doma has championed various initiatives to support the LGBTQIA+ community. In 2022, Doma proudly sponsored a Pride Parade in Orange County, California, with Chris playing a role in organizing the event. Within the organization, we have hosted numerous online events, including employee panels discussing their experiences, community engagement and current legislation affecting the #LGBTQIA+ community. Chris, pictured below on the right with his husband while traveling for an ALTA meeting, acknowledges there is still a significant journey ahead. The trans community continues to face substantial legislative and social challenges, and broader LGBTQIA+ rights are threatened by laws such as Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, which restricts classroom discussions about sexual orientation or gender identity. Chris affirms that Doma has taken substantial steps to celebrate and support #Pride and has approached diversity and inclusion in ways unprecedented in the title insurance industry. He strongly believes that all employees should feel comfortable in their identities, both within and outside the workplace. Pride Month is an opportunity to acknowledge the profound impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history. We reaffirm our commitment to fostering a diverse and supportive workplace where all employees can thrive.
