What a great day I had today at one of the jewels in our St Louis crown -- Donald Danforth Plant Science Center! The people, the facilities, and the excellence in science happening in our own backyard (with GLOBAL reach) will amaze you. Such an honor to be on a panel with Ellen Atwell and Doug Allen in a leadership session at the Center. Truly a joy to see and engage with @Becky Bart James Umen Andrea Eveland @Tom Bander together with program curators Anna Beasley Dibble and Jennifer McDonnell (she/her). Interesting discussion about mentoring, and the collective participation of everyone reminded me of how earnest, smart, and dedicated the DPSC team members are in all they do. Later in the day, I attended the celebration of @Elizabeth (Toby) Kellogg receiving the Danforth Plant Science Award. Toby is such a quietly brilliant plant scientist, mentor, educator, role model, collaborator, and deep thinker. Jan Jaworski James Carrington and Bill Danforth originally caught my attention when I heard them speak about the Center at a luncheon YEARS ago. Since then, women leaders and scientists like Toby and Toni M Kutchan Allison Miller Malia Gehan @Becky Bart Tessa Burch-Smith Veena Veena, PhD, MBA Katie Murphy Nadia Shakoor Sona Pandey Dr. Kristine Callis-Duehl and so many others have inspired me to get further involved in and continue my support of the Center.
