Happy #NationalRuralHealthDay! We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our peers at critical access hospitals and providers we have worked with in rural facilities across the continuum. Recently, we partnered with Missouri Hospital Association on facilitating a series of Community Forums on birth equity in maternal health deserts throughout Missouri. In Missouri, 11.2% of babies were born to women who live in rural counties, while 3.7% of maternity care providers practice in rural counties. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gt2C7iXK. This project, among our other work with rural facilities, was a reminder of the unique challenges that rural health facilities face and how important the focus on improving rural health is. 🏥

In partnership with the Missouri Hospital Association and the Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PQC), we traveled to Hannibal and Joplin in September to discuss maternal health deserts in Missouri’s East and Southwest regions. During these day-long town halls, we facilitated strategic planning around the pain points for maternal health in these regions and designed action plans for improving the current state of maternal health in Missouri. Key stakeholders (including but not limited to doulas, EMS, nurses, administrators, and moms) were empowered to provide MHA information on ways they can help support the future of this work. These town halls were the second half of a 4-part roadshow, with two previous events in Miner and Chillicothe this past May. It’s been a joy working with such engaged and committed folks across the state, and we look forward to seeing the data outcomes from this work. A massive thank you to the Missouri Hospital Association and Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative for their partnership in this work.

There is one week until our latest webinar! Join hosts Matthew Kelly and Adam Kohlrus, MS, CPHQ, CPPS, as they explore the connection between healthcare and human-centered design.
If any field should be more human-centered, it's healthcare. 👤 < Register here: https://lnkd.in/g8XmkySi > In this webinar, you will learn our perspective on fundamental design principles and how to integrate them into your work. Revolving around a handful of case studies, we will share applications for patient & family engagement, clinician well-being, high reliability, health equity, and other important topics. What is HCD? Exactly what it says on the label—keeping humans at the center of design rather than capabilities or provider bias. How is HCD useful in healthcare? In this notoriously siloed space, it is very useful for convincing people of a point of view, integrating the voice of patients and clinicians, empathizing around well-being, helping coordinate Teams, having complex conversations around DE&I, etc.
