  • Advocating for public policies that support a vibrant business environment is central to Downtown Cleveland’s work. Downtown Cleveland is excited to announce that The Fight Organized Retail Crime and Empower Law Enforcement (FORCE) Act has been enacted into law upon Governor DeWine’s signature last week. This legislation will create an Organized Retail Theft Task Force, increase criminal penalties for repeat grand theft, and enact additional measures to deter organized crime allowing downtown’s small business community to flourish in an urban environment. Learn more about Downtown Cleveland's advocacy efforts and the FORCE Act in the linked article below. https://lnkd.in/gF9XC4N8

  • Downtown Cleveland, Inc. recognizes what's at stake. Supporting a downtown stadium means investing in a stronger, more competitive city—one that attracts businesses, corporate investment, and talent while generating the tax revenue needed for essential services. It means building on the momentum these investments have helped create over the past 20 years. • Downtown Cleveland is thrilled to hear that Cleveland has been awarded nearly $70 million from the Department of Transportation for the North Coast Connector Land Bridge and Downtown Boulevard Project. These projects support Mayor Justin M. Bibb's Reimagining Downtown plan which includes enhancing the core's experience by providing equitable access to our waterfronts. Bibb credited former U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown with helping to secure the grant. U.S. Rep. Brown said in a statement. “We believe in downtown Cleveland.” The projects align with Downtown Cleveland's vision of creating a seamless urban environment with enhanced connectivity, transforming Cleveland into a 15-minute, 18-hour city. This funding will promote downtown Cleveland as a world-class destination, leveraging our waterfront to benefit the entire community. https://lnkd.in/gihbaUSB

  • A huge thank you to Mike the Hatter for his generous donation of winter hats! These hats will be distributed to the unsheltered population, providing much-needed warmth during the cold months. They have been a consistent supporter, donating hats year after year, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing commitment to giving back to the community. We're proud to partner with this local business, and we encourage you to visit their shop in the 5th Street Arcade to show your support!

  • Will more people be in the office this year than last year? The data trends say yes. In the third quarter of 2024, compared to the workforce before the pandemic, 75% of employees are back in the office.   "Michael Deemer, JD, LPM expects that number to increase slowly, adding that once Sherwin-Williams is up and running, it may also help bring employees back to the office. 'The symbolic value of having a Fortune 500 company homegrown here in downtown Cleveland, opening a new office tower, having its workers come into the office every day, I think, sends an incredibly strong signal about the importance of place-based work,' Deemer said" https://lnkd.in/gyHxSkHR
