We're working to bring a proven solution to address homelessness that has worked in other communities to Orlando. 407 Connect, inspired by the "Dignity Bus" model from the Source non-profit from Vero Beach, will consist of two custom-fabricated buses, outfitted with sleeping pods, storage compartments, restrooms, pet compartments and more, designed to provide safe overnight shelter to 40 individuals at a time. This effort is in partnership with Christian Service Center for the Homeless and the city's Community Redevelopment Agency. As part of the 407 Connect program, these individuals, predetermined by the Christian Service Center case management team, would not only have a clean and safe space to sleep each night, but also access to services that will ultimately connect them with permanent housing. Through this model, we expect to connect over 400 individuals to permanent housing over the next three years. This is just one part of the plan to reduce homelessness in our city, which includes creating more permanent shelter space that also provides those in need to support services during the day.

Kicking off the Sesquicentennial Celebration Over the last century and a half, Orlando has evolved from an isolated town in the middle of the state into a dynamic city that is recognized around the globe. This morning, Mayor Dyer and Commissioners (with help from city staff) unveiled a banner outside City Hall to start the celebration of the City of Orlando’s 150th anniversary. We believe that recognizing the anniversary provides our entire community with the opportunity to learn more about our city’s history, acknowledge the progress made toward creating a welcoming, inclusive city and celebrate all that makes Orlando special today. Residents, businesses and organizations are invited to join in the celebration. Ways to participate include hosting events, offering special anniversary promotions, sharing personal Orlando stories on social media and contributing historical anecdotes and photos to the city's digital history board. • Downtown Orlando came alive with energy as this year's 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games delivered an unforgettable weekend both on and off the field. They showcased the best of professional football while driving significant economic impact for our community. The NFC secured the win in a competitive showdown, but the true victory was the impact felt throughout the city. The NFL Pro Bowl Games brought increased foot traffic to downtown, supporting local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. Major sporting events like this reinforce Orlando's position as a premier destination for sports and entertainment while generating revenue that benefits the entire community. These events are more than just thrilling matchups-they are vital for our local economy. They bring visitors to our city, create opportunities for local businesses, and highlight all downtown Orlando offers. Thank you to the NFL, Florida Citrus Sports, the athletes, the fans, and the businesses that made this event a success!
