It's Member Feature Monday 🌟 Every Monday, we're recognizing one of our amazing members for the contributions they make to our organization and downtown Spokane as a whole. The Davenport Hotel Collection is a cornerstone of Spokane's downtown area, offering five unique hotels: The Historic Davenport, The Davenport Tower, The Davenport Lusso, The Davenport Grand and The Centennial. Known for blending historic charm with modern luxury, the collection caters to diverse guest needs, from boutique elegance to contemporary convenience. The Historic Davenport, a masterpiece of early 20th-century architecture, was meticulously restored after narrowly avoiding demolition, preserving its opulent features such as hand-painted frescoes and marble details. These hotels are vital to Spokane’s cultural and economic vibrancy, providing world-class accommodations, dining, and event spaces that attract tourists, business travelers, and locals. Their central locations enhance accessibility to landmarks like Riverfront Park, the Spokane Convention Center, and the Spokane Arena, making them an integral part of the city’s thriving downtown ecosystem.

It's Member Feature Monday 🌟 Every Monday, we're recognizing one of our amazing members for the contributions they make to our organization and downtown Spokane as a whole. Cowles Company is a fourth-generation, family-owned enterprise based in Spokane, with a diversified portfolio of businesses and significant contributions to the local community. Established in 1890, the company owns The Spokesman-Review, a leading daily newspaper in eastern Washington, and operates River Park Square, a major retail and entertainment hub in downtown Spokane. River Park Square's redevelopment, including the addition of prominent retailers like Nordstrom and an AMC Theater, has bolstered downtown Spokane's economy and vibrancy. Through the Harriet Cheney Cowles Foundation, the company has provided nearly $20 million in funding for civic, cultural, and educational initiatives, including support for the Martin Woldson Theatre at the Fox and the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture. These efforts have enriched Spokane's cultural landscape. Additionally, Cowles Company's sustainable forestry and newsprint operations contribute to regional environmental stewardship.

Great piece by Derek Deis on the importance of bringing more housing to downtown! We couldn't agree more. The DSP continues progress on our downtown housing plan, which includes identifying tools to incentivize downtown housing, and we are proud advocates for the Washington State Tax Credits for residential developers. Thank you Chris Batten and RenCorp Realty for your continued effort to bring more housing to our beautiful downtown. https://lnkd.in/guhqB6si

It's Member Feature Monday 🌟 Every Monday, we're recognizing one of our amazing members for the contributions they make to our organization and downtown Spokane as a whole. BNSF Railway has been a vital contributor to the Spokane community for decades, particularly through economic and infrastructure support. Serving as a key connector on the northern transcontinental rail line, Spokane has long been central to BNSF's network, transporting regional products like timber, ore, and grain to markets across the nation. This legacy, dating back to the arrival of BNSF’s predecessor railroads in the late 1800s, continues to bolster Spokane's role as a transportation hub for the Pacific Northwest. Beyond logistics, BNSF is also deeply invested in community development and environmental sustainability in downtown Spokane. Through the BNSF Railway Foundation, the company has supported numerous local initiatives. For example, in 2018, BNSF donated $150,000 toward Spokane’s Riverfront Park revitalization project, helping to enhance this iconic public space and contributing to Spokane’s downtown beautification. Additionally, the foundation has partnered with the Downtown Spokane Partnership and the Arbor Day Foundation to enrich urban green spaces, further highlighting BNSF's commitment to the area’s quality of life.
