This week members of the Centre for Neurodiversity & Development were pleased to be invited by the Durham University Library team (DRO colleagues) to give talks on five of our current research projects and an overview of the Centre’s activities - we covered topics such as school life and attendance, engagement in physical activity, autistic identity, participatory methods, healthy relationships, and translating research into practice. We also had really valuable discussions with DRO colleagues on engaging varied/diverse audiences with our research and outputs. During remote or hybrid work, it is a daily challenge for managers to decide how much to "check in" on their team members. This challenge may result in managers deciding to check-in on some days more than others. But - is this "variability" a good idea...? 🧐 Our research (with Xiaotong Zheng, Susanne Braun, Birgit Schyns) shows that it is not: Monitoring can be even more harmful for employee well-being when it fluctuates in unpredictable ways. Delighted to share that I’m the inaugural recipient of the Durham University Northern Accelerator Enterprise Fellowship. The award provides funding to assist in the launch of a new spin-out company, and will enable me to represent Durham's wonderfully exciting innovation and enterprise activity across the university, region and beyond!

We are committed to working with experts by experience and in neurodiverse partnerships - we are currently recruiting a PDRA 0.5FTE for 12months to further develop our participatory research methods training, esp for postgraduate research training. This sociology-based post involves working across the Centre for Social Justice and Community Action (in Sociology) and the Centre for Neurodiversity & Development (in Psychology). The post holder will work with the academic team to develop, deliver, and evaluate a Participatory Action Research training package for doctoral researchers that focuses on involving neurodiverse communities as experts by experience. https://lnkd.in/dxX8rhfj
