Next Wednesday, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will release the AACR Cancer Progress Report, which underscores how recent advances across the cancer care continuum, including immunotherapy and molecularly targeted therapies, are helping cancer patients and their loved ones. Michael Pignone, MD, MPH, director of DCI's Program on Cancer Screening Equity, will participate in a panel discussion of the ways we are addressing the needs of the rapidly expanding population of cancer survivors, as well as the disparities in cancer incidence, mortality, and access to care that still affect certain populations. People with bladder and other urothelial cancers got a long-awaited new FDA approved option in December that is already extending survival. Read the story of one patient's early access to pembro + padcev, thanks to the dedication of her medical team at Duke Cancer Institute. Looking ahead, Chris Hoimes, medical oncologist at DCI, leads #KeynoteB15, a global clinical trial of the drug combination in an earlier setting--before people undergo surgery. The trial has "curative intent," said Hoimes. #InnovativeTreatment | #CancerResearch | #Survival #Hope

Thanks for sharing, Dr. Sullenger.
Centennial Spotlight: David Colston Sabiston Jr. In 1964, David Sabiston came from Johns Hopkins to Duke, where he led Duke Surgery for 30 years. A giant in his field, he incorporated laboratory research into surgery, oversaw training programs that have been emulated all over the world, and helped desegregate Duke’s clinics in the late 1960s. #Duke100 #ForeverDuke https://lnkd.in/eEW5WK6Y
