A comprehensive healthcare facility, Duke Regional Hospital provides inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care and features a level II Special Care Nursery, Duke Cancer Center North Durham, Duke Center for Metabolic and Weight Loss Surgery, Duke Regional Vascular Access Clinic, Duke Rehabilitation Institute and the James E. Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center.
The 369-bed, acute-care hospital has served the needs of Durham and surrounding counties for more than 40 years. Duke Regional is a proud part of Duke Health, and is affiliated with Lincoln Community Health Center, a primary-care facility for underinsured and uninsured Durham residents, and Watts School of Nursing, home of the longest-running nursing diploma program in North Carolina.
Duke Regional is ranked among the best hospitals in North Carolina, according to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list, and has been recognized by the Leapfrog Group, among other organizations, for its commitment to high quality, safe care. The hospital achieved Magnet recognition for excellence in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center in 2008 and was redesignated in 2014 as a health system. Duke Regional has also received the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for hip fracture, stroke and total joint replacement care. In addition, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation has recognized Duke Regional as a “Leader in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” in the Healthcare Equality Index since 2012.
