This afternoon, our Interim Value-Based Care Chief Medical Officer, Mathew Philip, MD, testified at the United States House Committee on Ways and Means Health Subcommittee Hearing on Improving Value-Based Care for Patients and Providers. Dr. Philip highlighted the significant benefits of value-based care payment models, which promote preventive care and early, coordinated interventions. These models are instrumental in lowering healthcare spending and enhancing our patients’ and communities’ health and wellness. He particularly emphasized the positive impact value-based care payment models can have on rural communities, where access to preventive care and healthcare choices is limited, leading to higher mortality rates. In his testimony, Dr. Philip made several recommendations to the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to reduce barriers for patients and encourage broader participation by health systems in value-based care. We are proud of Dr. Philip’s contributions and remain committed to advancing healthcare in our communities and throughout the country. Today, we are celebrating Juneteenth, a day commemorating the liberation of the last remaining enslaved African Americans in the US on June 19, 1865. Our Duly team had the outstanding opportunity to join the influential small business leader and radio personality Margaret Jackson, honoring the Black and African American people who have come before and celebrating the accomplishments of the millions of exceptional Black and African American people who continue their legacy. Happy Juneteenth!

I belong to a family of doctors. From the early days of my childhood, I would listen to my family’s discussions about medicine. I was always fascinated by the healthcare field. I earned a medical degree in Pakistan; however, when I came to the United States I could not work as a physician due to family obligations. For this reason, I decided to go into ultrasound. There is a misconception about the Ultrasound field. Few say, “Ultrasound is so easy, you put the camera and take pictures” However, there is far more to the job. Sonographers are the eyes of radiologists. We have a big responsibility to identify any pathology for the radiologist to diagnose. While rewarding, the ultrasound field can be a demanding career. My advice to aspiring sonographers is to remain focused for every ultrasound test. They need to be compassionate, have good communication skills, and must maintain their composure in high-stress situations. As a sonographer, one is never done learning. New equipment and techniques are implemented each year. There is always room to improve. One must stay ahead of the curve through dedicated learning.” - Uzma J., Ultrasound Technologist If you’re looking for the next step in your career journey and work tirelessly to go above and beyond for your team and patients, consider joining the Duly team today: https://bit.ly/3GXYqtE
