The holiday season can bring up complicated emotions and even memories of past trauma, especially for survivors of violence. No matter how you're feeling this season, you have the right to celebrate (or not!) in whichever ways feel nourishing to you. Thanks to our friends at Option B for these reminders. 💚 [Image description: Text reads: "Holiday Bill of Rights. This holiday season, I reserve the right to: 1. Choose how I want to spend the holidays. 2. Do only what feels right. 3. Let people help. 4. Feel however I feel. 5. Talk about it—or don't. 6. Take care of myself. 7. Hold onto hope."] via @NNEDV

After surviving and escaping domestic abuse, you may discover that your ex is harming your children to get back at you. This may include trying to turn them against you, in a form of “domestic abuse by proxy.” Sometimes abusers train children to reject, avoid, and behave aggressively toward the survivor. This coercive control of children is an under-acknowledged form of child abuse. Coercive control is a pattern of isolation, manipulation, intimidation, gaslighting and actions to control another person. The abuser may also use some combination of verbal, sexual and physical abuse. https://buff.ly/3mHgXUn #DomesticViolence #Abuse #DomesticAbuse
