Here’s an exciting update from Miami County! Troy City Schools are moving forward with the design process to build four new schools and renovate the current high school. We are proud to share preliminary sketches of two of the new schools from our partners from Ruetschle Architects. Three of the new schools will welcome elementary students from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, while the fourth will be a middle school for grades 5-6. The four new buildings will replace seven current facilities, providing modern innovative spaces for learning. These preliminary sketches from Ruetschle Architects show two of the elementary schools. We thank Ruetschle Architects for the drawings, as well as Planning Manager Tyler Palmer and Project Manager Ryan Meeds, PMP for their efforts on this project.

🌟 Celebrating Excellence in Sustainable Design! 🌟 We are thrilled to announce that the new Logan Elm PK-12 School has achieved LEED v4 Silver certification! 🎉 This is a significant milestone, not just for the Fanning Howey team, but for the entire state of Ohio. 🏅 Logan Elm PK-12 is the first school project in Ohio to earn 4 Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA) points through LEED! This incredible achievement includes a focus on six critical environmental impact categories: 1. 🌍 Global warming potential 2. 🌐 Stratospheric Ozone depletion 3. 🌊 Eutrophication 4. 🌤️ Tropospheric Ozone formation 5. 🌱 Acidification of land and water 6. 🔋 Depletion of non-renewable energy resources The project successfully reduced impact by at least 10% in five of these six categories—a testament to our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. A huge thank you to our partners at Logan Elm Local School Dist and to our sustainability consultant EA Energy Solutions, LLC for their critical expertise in achieving these credits. And thanks once again to the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission for their leadership in environmental stewardship in school design. Do you know what an “Eco-Charrette” is? 🤔 Well thanks to Senior Planning Manager Todd Hager LEED AP WELL AP, now you do! Hager recently made the trek to Yellow Springs to host an Eco-Charrette for the Yellow Springs Local Schools.      The term “charrette” originates from the French word for “cart” – a term referring to the intense final efforts made by architectural students in Paris to complete their design projects on time, working right up to the deadline when their work was carted away for evaluation.     Here in Ohio, Hager’s Eco-Charrette was an interactive brainstorming and team-building exercise that generated and targeted sustainability goals for a project. His audience included the development team for a Yellow Springs project – demolition, renovation, and addition to the McKinney Middle School and Yellow Springs High School. Representatives from the Yellow Springs Local Schools, EA Energy Solutions, LLC, and The Kleingers Group were among those in attendance.     We are also proud to join with several other Ohio-based partners on this project: Ruetschle Architects, HEAPY Engineering, and Conger Construction Group.
