Our dear friend Dr. George Wittemyer said it right: "While the trends are not good, it is important to recognize the successes we have had and continue to have. Learning how and where we can be successful in conserving elephants is as important as recognizing the severity of the decline they have experienced." Read more about this important study from Dr. Wittemyer and the team at Save the Elephants.

New research paper: #EarthRanger’s capabilities and real-world impact on conservation With its foundations as the Elephant Real-time Monitoring System, developed by Save the Elephants, read how EarthRanger has grown into a comprehensive platform adopted at over 600 sites and projects across 74 countries. The study, published in Methods in Ecology and Evolution, highlights EarthRanger’s advanced capabilities, integrating data from wildlife collars, AI-powered camera traps, satellite imagery, and on-the-ground observations. It also explores real-world applications, showing how EarthRanger empowers conservationists, from Liwonde National Park to Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula, to combat poaching, monitor wildlife, and make data-driven decisions in real time. 👉 Read the open-access study here to learn more about EarthRanger’s impact and real-world applications. #Tech4Wildlife

And that’s a wrap from Costa Rica! 🌎 This week, we finished our last EarthRanger Training Workshop in San José, marking the end of a season of incredible connections. Over the past two months, our team hosted 7 regional workshops, bringing together over 500 conservation heroes from across 51 countries. These workshops aren’t just about training; they’re about connecting people, sparking new ideas, and inspiring collaborations that protect our planet. This season saw some exciting firsts: our debut workshop in Asia (Cambodia!), our first Spanish-led event (Hola, Panama City!), and endless conversations that will fuel our team and our platform for years! A special shout-out to all of you who joined us -- it was an incredible honor to host you! Recap story and video to come.
