Illinois educators' enthusiasm for dual language was evident at the recent La Cosecha Conference, considered to be the largest dual language conference in the United States. This annual event, hosted by Dual Language Education of New Mexico, provides educators, researchers, and parents the opportunity to share best practices and learn about the latest research, particularly in the context of two-way immersion and developmental bilingual programs. Our director of Multilingual / Language Development, Joanne Clyde, managed to gather a significant portion of our state's delegation for this photo -- more than 100 people from 35 Illinois school districts! 🦃It was a great day with a record participation rate at the Tom-A-Hawk Turkey Trot! Thank you to our very own Shane Gillespie for organizing this year's race and to all our EASD 131 volunteers including our Student Board Member Karina Villagran for your hard work. Funds raised will go towards scholarships and grants awarded by the Aurora East Educational Foundation(AEEF) and the West Aurora A+ Foundation for East Aurora School District 131 and West Aurora School District 129 students and staff.
