Where Scholarship and Collegiality Meet: Collaborate, Connect, Engage.

About us

Eastern Academy of Management is a community of college educators and scholars dedicated to using our skills and talents to help the world work better. As a learning community, we are devoted to the members’ professional development as well as the advancement of management theory, research, education, and practice. Affiliated with the Academy of Management, we augment and complement AOM's activities by conducting our own domestic and international meetings. EAM’s motto has long been “Where Scholarship and Collegiality Meet.” It truly reflects the principles upon which EAM was built – combining scholarship with a supportive and collegial atmosphere. While neither scholarship nor a warm collegial atmosphere alone can provide a fertile environment for professional growth; at EAM we pride ourselves in providing both. Please join us at one of our conferences and find out what makes participation in EAM so rewarding. EAM Statement of Purpose We are a learning community of college educators and scholars dedicated to using our skills and talents to help the world work better. For us, a learning community is a forum of broad philosophical, social, and practical thought within which knowledge is generated and people are inspired, challenged, and validated at the same time. As a learning community, we are devoted to members’ professional development as well as the advancement of management theory, research, education, and practice. We accomplish our goals and attain our vision through conversations and activities held both throughout the year and at regular domestic and international meetings.

🌞 4:30am guest lecture for a class 12 hours ahead of your time zone? It's what academics do! When Sonia Mehrotra invited me to share insights on the role of HRD in navigating organizational politics, I jumped at the opportunity (even knowing the 12-hour time difference would mean an early morning on the last day of finals...small price to pay for the conversation our group had this morning!). As an #HR educator and researcher, I believe deeply in the power of HR processes as a key structural support for organizational effectiveness and success. It was an honor to discuss the topic with such an engaged group of students as we explored: 🎯 Leveraging OD as a framework for understanding the rules of the (business) game 🔥 How power and organizational politics fuel the flame for competition, influence, and performance 🏆 The power of HRD as a tool for supporting employees and organizations as we work together to navigate power, politics, and organizational success I am especially grateful for the level of #engagement from students! Our conversation was insightful and I appreciated your questions about the future of HR and how to grow your own careers thoughtfully and strategically. What a great way to start the day!
