These batteries are built to last. Studies show that EV batteries can maintain most of their original capacity even after 200,000 miles of use. For instance, research on Tesla battery ranges revealed that the majority of cars experienced less than a 10% degradation after 150,000 miles or more. The value of EV batteries extends beyond their longevity. Filled with rare and valuable minerals like cobalt, lithium, manganese, and nickel, there's a significant financial motivation to recycle them. Looking ahead, upcoming regulations stipulate that by 2027, 80% of critical minerals in American EV batteries must originate from domestic mining, processing, or recycling facilities.
