We are thrilled to announce that the ECOFOODCYCLE Consortium recently convened to discuss the newly developed methodology for conducting a food waste audit, prepared by the University of Rijeka. Since 1997, this organization has been recovering surplus food from producers and distributors, redistributing it through charitable organizations to support people in need across Abruzzo and Molise 🍲 In 2024, the Banco Alimentare collected a total of 219 tons of food during the 28th National Food Collection Day, held on November 16. This represents an 8% increase compared to the previous year 💹 The food was distributed across the provinces of Pescara, Chieti, Teramo, and L'Aquila. 🌍Sharing is Caring in Karlovac – A Step Towards a Circular Economy ♻️ The "Sharing is Caring in Karlovac" group is dedicated to promoting a sustainable, circular economy by minimizing waste and moving away from the cycle of consumerism. Instead of constantly buying and discarding inexpensive items, the group encourages exchanging items that are no longer needed, giving them new life.✨ Whether it’s clothes that no longer fit 👕, household items you no longer use (from school supplies 📚to kitchen gadgets 🍽️), items that are easily repairable 🧰, or extra food you won’t have time to consume🥕🍞   – this community is about giving and receiving in a thoughtful, sustainable way. While it’s not required to give anything away, members are encouraged to share what they can, and those offering valuable items are invited to consider who might benefit most. Avanzi Popolo 2.0 connects surplus food from households, retailers, and restaurants with people in need, fostering a culture of community support and sustainability.
