📢 ELO-P is Working and We Need to Protect It!📢 Imagine a California where hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of kids lose access to safe, enriching afterschool programs. This isn't just a hypothetical scenario. Without secure funding for ELO-P, it could become a reality. Afterschool and summer programs are transforming lives, but without secure ELO-P funding, these programs could be at risk. That’s why CalSAC, The Challenge, and organizations like EDMO are joining educators, families, and advocates to fight for expanded learning and long-term ELO-P funding. 👉 Learn why protecting ELO-P is crucial, how you can get involved in The Challenge, and how to take action in our latest blog post: https://lnkd.in/gPmkJR4i #EDMO #ELOP #AfterSchool #STEAMEducation #SocialEmotionalLearning #Advocacy #2025AfterschoolandSummerChallenge #ExpandedLearningForAll #AfterschoolSuccess #YouthAndEducation

About us
EDMO is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing equitable access to out-of-school learning experiences for kids by creating paradigm shifts aimed at dismantling systemic inequities and oppressive structures. Through our partnership programs, we create supportive, inclusive environments where kids explore awarding-winning STEAM and SEL focused curriculum specially designed to address our partnering school’s specific needs and requirements. Our out-of-school learning opportunities empower kids to cultivate a sense of self, own their impact and show up in the world with curiosity, courage and kindness. Furthermore, we are experienced in ELO-P funding requirements, program design and compliance to ensure your school meets state audit requirements.

📢 Advocacy in Action 📢 EDMO at The California Afterschool & Summer Challenge with California School-Age Consortium (CalSAC)! Expanded learning programs change lives but without secure, long-term funding, thousands of kids could lose access to the afterschool and summer programs they rely on. That’s why EDMO is proud to be a part of the steering committee member for The California Afterschool & Summer Challenge, fighting to protect and expand ELO-P funding for students across the state. The Challenge is a powerful event that brings together educators, families, and youth to speak directly with legislators about the importance of out-of-school time programs. We believe in the power of community-driven advocacy, and we are committed to ensuring every student has access to safe, enriching spaces where they can learn, grow, and thrive. 💡 Want to help? Speak to your legislators and representatives about the importance of ELO-P funding and together, we can keep the future of expanded learning strong! https://lnkd.in/gaYGt-SU #2025AfterschoolandSummerChallenge #ExpandedLearningForAll #AfterschoolSuccess #YouthAndEducation

🔬✨ Today, on International Day of Women & Girls in Science, we celebrate the trailblazers who have shaped the world through discovery, innovation, and determination. Their contributions are a testament to the importance of creating equitable opportunities for the next generation of women in STEM. 1. Marie Curie – Pioneering physicist and chemist known for her work on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and remains the only person to win in two different scientific fields (Physics and Chemistry). 2. Rosalind Franklin – A key figure in the discovery of DNA’s double-helix structure. Her X-ray diffraction images provided critical evidence for the model proposed by Watson and Crick. 3. Ada Lovelace – Considered the first computer programmer, she worked with Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine and envisioned the potential of computers beyond simple calculations. 4. Katherine Johnson – A NASA mathematician whose calculations of orbital mechanics were crucial to the success of the first U.S. spaceflights, including John Glenn’s orbit of Earth. 5. Chien-Shiung Wu – A physicist who played a major role in disproving the conservation of parity in weak nuclear interactions, leading to a Nobel Prize for her male colleagues (but not for her). 6. Jennifer Doudna – A biochemist who co-developed CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing technology, revolutionizing genetics and earning the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. 7. Frances Arnold – A chemical engineer and Nobel laureate in Chemistry for her work on the directed evolution of enzymes, used in biofuels and medicine. 8. Tu Youyou – A Chinese pharmaceutical chemist who discovered artemisinin, a groundbreaking antimalarial drug that has saved millions of lives. She won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Medicine for her contributions. 9. Nergis Mavalvala – A Pakistani-American astrophysicist known for her work in gravitational-wave detection as part of the LIGO project, which confirmed Einstein’s general theory of relativity by detecting ripples in spacetime. 10. Katie Bouman – A computer scientist who played a key role in developing the algorithm that created the first-ever image of a black hole in 2019. At EDMO, we work hand-in-hand with district and community partners to design STEAM programs that inspire, engage, and empower girls to see themselves as the scientists and innovators of tomorrow. 🚀 Want to bring more hands-on, empowering STEAM experiences to your schools? Partner with us to co-design a program that makes an impact! 💡 https://lnkd.in/g898pV5h #WomenInScience #GirlsInSTEM #EquityInEducation #EDMO #InternationalDayofWomenandGirlsinScience #GirlsInScience
