  • When Jaliyah joined us, she faced challenges many students know all too well—struggles in class and the weight of bullying. But with courage, determination, and support, her transformation has been nothing short of extraordinary. Today, with the help of E.R.E., Jaliyah has accomplished 6 years’ worth of growth in algebra, boosted her leadership skills by 30 percentile, and reduced her experience with bullying by a 63 percentile - with just 4 months of tutoring! Her E.R.E. tutor, Connor, describes her journey beautifully: "She’s really motivated and I could see lightbulb moments happening as we worked through problems. I’ll work to get her feeling more comfortable with trying and failing in a safe environment." This is what Educate. Radiate. Elevate. is all about—bridging gaps and unlocking potential. Jaliyah’s success reminds us that when we empower young minds, we elevate entire communities. 💡𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘶𝘴 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘑𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘺𝘢𝘩’𝘴. 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. • 🎉 In just the first month of 2025, we’ve made significant strides in spreading our core values and advancing our mission. At the start of the year, we composed our first #newsletter of 2025. 🤝 Additionally, we’ve finalized our 2024 accounting information, continued working on our 2024 Annual Report, and planned our Q1 Board of Directors Meeting. 🎯 At the heart of E.R.E. is our tutoring program, which is central to our mission of creating an equitable and engaging learning environment for student success. We finished our Fall 2024 Term on Jan 31st with incredible results! Our tutoring program relies on donations to provide free, high-quality education to these students in underserved communities. Without any, we wouldn’t be able to continue our work, and our mission would not be possible 🤕. • 🎉 Incepted in 2020, Social-Emotional Learning Day (#SELday) is a global, grassroots campaign for social-emotional learning to support children’s academic recovery, mental health, and well-being. 🎯 Overall, when teachers incorporate social-emotional skills into their instruction, students become more emotionally and socially independent, gaining the skills to manage both internal and external conflicts as well as responsibilities. 🤝 At E.R.E., our high-quality tutoring service provided by our culturally responsive and trauma-informed tutors has been proven to help students' interpersonal skills as much as their academics. This empowers students to continue thriving in their future lives. 𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴. • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) involves developing strategies to understand and manage emotions, build positive relationships, make responsible decisions, and achieve personal goals. Both students and young adults must develop these skills, as they help individuals navigate challenges, take initiative, and create a positive environment in which they can thrive. At E.R.E., our tutoring program not only provides academic support but also nurtures personal growth, helping students build skills like self-confidence and stress management. By incorporating social-emotional learning into our curriculum, we ensure that students carry valuable skills that can be used throughout their lives. However, our tutoring program relies on the generous donations of individuals like you. Your contributions ensure that we have the necessary resources to support each student’s success. • 🙌 Jaden T. has made incredible strides with the support of his tutor, Tenzing, through E.R.E.’s tutoring program. 🎉 In just four months, Jaden’s mastery of writing strategies has advanced by the equivalent of 1.9 years of schooling. Beyond academics, he has gained more self-confidence and developed effective strategies for managing test anxiety. Tenzing shares, “Jaden has been a fantastic student to work with. I've gotten to know Jaden to be a kind and willing student. He is really open to trying new things when it comes to learning”. 🤩 Jaden’s success, as seen from both his perspective and Tenzing’s, truly demonstrates the impact of E.R.E.’s tutoring program. It’s inspiring to witness Jaden’s progress and know that the skills he’s gained will support him throughout his academic journey. However, this wouldn’t be possible without the donations we receive, which directly support students in our tutoring program. • Enacted in 1975, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) ensures that young people with disabilities, ages 3 to 21, receive a free and appropriate public education. Eligible students are those who have a diagnosed disability that affects learning and requires special education or related services. In 2023, 16% of students in Illinois and 13% of students in Texas received support under IDEA. However, many of these students face challenges that may not be met by the resources available to public schools. Additionally, many of these students’ families may not have the ability to afford costly after-school programs. This is where E.R.E. steps in! 🎯 E.R.E. is a nonprofit organization committed to providing free, high-quality tutoring to under-resourced students. Our mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of background, has access to quality education that sets them up for future success. • One of our students, Jaden T., struggled with his grades, especially in math. However, after just four months of tutoring with his tutor, Tenzing, he has made remarkable progress! 🎯 Jaden’s mastery of writing strategies has advanced by the equivalent of 1.9 years of schooling. Beyond academics, he has also developed valuable skills, such as boosting his self-esteem by 8 percentile and reducing his test anxiety by 45 percentile. Now, he comes home with a good report card and is not afraid to ask questions. Tenzing shares, “Jaden has been a fantastic student to work with. I’ve gotten to know Jaden to be a kind and willing student. He is really open to trying new things when it comes to learning”. 🤩 Jaden’s story is a testament to the #empowerment that E.R.E. provides to students and reinforces why we continue to push our mission forward. Our goal is to create an equitable and engaging learning environment where all students, regardless of background, can succeed. 🎉 By supporting E.R.E., you’re giving students life-changing access to high-quality education, helping them gain confidence and achieve academic success. • #SoftSkills are essential building blocks for success in school and the workplace. 💪 Similar to academic knowledge (i.e. "Hard Skills"), Soft Skills can be improved through consistent practice. 🤔 You can begin fostering soft skills in your child at an early age by giving them more freedom to make their own choices. For instance, play a game with your child that requires out-of-the-box thinking. Instead of providing pre-set options, allow them to decide based on what they believe best fits their criteria. You can also try incorporating their input into everyday household tasks. For example, when planning to wash your car, ask your child about their suggestions for methods and steps. this will help our child to think independently, explore options, and make informed choices.
