Staff and students from the Ottumwa Job Corps in Iowa braved the cold today to travel north to check out the Transportation Communications Union (TCU/IAM) advanced training program at the Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps. As part of the tour, they visited the Minnesota Transportation Museum, where TCU students interested in careers in the railroad industry gain additional knowledge and hands-on skills. It's a partnership that's on the right track and going places. The Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps Center is operated by ETR #educationandtrainingresources and MINACT #minactinc. #jobcorps #careersbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #TrainHardTCU

In June 2023, at the age of twenty, Jaysa enrolled at Hubert H. Humphrey Job Corps in St. Paul, Minnesota. “I came to Job Corps because I needed a change. I was tired of the same routine and getting nowhere," she recalled. "Every time I applied for jobs, they’d tell me I didn’t have enough experience, even if I knew something about the work. I realized Job Corps could help me gain the skills and experience needed to grow, become more independent, and move forward.” She started in the Office Administration trade and, after completing it, entered Job Corps' Advanced Career Training (ACT) program at Century College in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She is in the business transfer program, having earned credits before coming to Job Corps, and will graduate with an associate's degree this month. Jaysa plans to attend Metro State University in January to pursue her bachelor's degree. Congratulations, Jaysa – we are proud of you! The Hubert H. Oneonta Job Corps Academy partnered with the CDO Workforce and Otsego County Chamber of Commerce to host the Future Workforce Career Expo, which was held on December 5th at the Oneonta Southside Mall. Despite the winter snow warnings (not much snow accumulated), over 26 employers, colleges, and agencies attended, including Centers Health Care, Otsego County Civil Service, New York State Police, Aspen Dental, and At Home Care Partners. Students interacted with the representatives and participated in mock interviews conducted by OJCA's Career Transition team. Thanks, everyone! #jobcorps #careersbeginhere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #CommunityEngagement #workforcedevelopment #careerfair
