Gilman International Scholarship! 🎉 Harper is heading to the Theatre Academy London this fall! 🌟 "Receiving the Gilman has given me the opportunity to travel and experience theatre globally and hands-on. I'm so excited to travel to London with the Gilman scholarship and learn not only about my major, but also the world outside of the States!"

Congratulations to 2008 English Alumni, Raytevia Evans, for recently being hired by Volunteers of America National Services as its new Director of Communications! 🌟 "Previously, Evans served as the senior public information officer for the Alexandria Fire Department, and before that, she was a local editor with Patch/AOL in the Northern Virginia area and then an education reporter in Sumter, S.C. She also has experience in the public sector, having served as a public information officer for Northern Virginia Community College where she focused on media relations and highlighting student, faculty, and staff success stories."

Congratulations to CCU May Languages and Intercultural Studies and Political Science graduate Johhny LaVecchia. He was recently awarded the prestigious 2024-25 Fulbright Hays grant ($7,000) to study Mandarin through the Intensive Summer and Semester Language Program (TISLP) in Taiwan this summer. He is the first CCU student to receive this prestigious national scholarship! Johnny was one of the most talented and active students in the Chinese program at CCU and worked as a Spanish and Chinese tutor for the Intercultural Language Resource Center. Awarded a Moe Huayu Enrichment Scholarship in his junior year, he completed a semester of an intensive immersive program at Taiwan National Normal University in the Fall of 2023. Johnny is excited to return to Taiwan this summer to start his career as a social media content translator with his local friends in Taipei.
