We’re thrilled to share the highlights from El Hogar’s graduation ceremony that took place in December! This special day was filled with joy and pride as our 9th and 12th graders celebrated their achievements alongside their families. Watching our students step confidently into their futures was truly inspiring, and we’re so proud of all they’ve accomplished. El Hogar provides a quality education & safe and nurturing home to children living in vulnerable conditions in Honduras.
About us
Founded in 2001, El Hogar Ministries, Inc. (EHMI), is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Andover, Massachusetts, whose purpose is to provide financial support for El Hogar Projects in Honduras. With a full-time staff of two, a board, and volunteers from the United States and Canada, the organization currently raises approximately $1.5 million annually from student sponsorships, special events, and donations from individuals, churches, and other organizations. Founded in 1979 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, El Hogar Projects (EHP) gives 200 Honduran children and youth from vulnerable circumstances a loving home, an education, and vocational training at its two centers. At the Elementary School in Tegucigalpa, boys and girls, beginning at age five, live in a caring environment through sixth grade. They learn to respect and live with others, while also adapting to discipline and receiving a quality education. After completing the sixth grade, the students continue their education at the Technical Institute, where they will receive academic classes from seventh to twelfth grade, and vocational training in welding and electricity. Girls were first accepted into El Hogar Projects in 2007. For a number of years, the girls attended a private secondary school, but starting in 2018 they attend classes at the Technical Institute, learning welding and electricity alongside their male cohorts. El Hogar Projects also has a working farm that provides sustenance for the other educational centers and in the long-term aim to increase El Hogar's capacity to become more self-sustaining by selling their products in the local market.

Ariel’s journey with us began when he was just 13 years old and he not only gained an education but also discovered his vocation—both as an aspiring teacher and as someone deeply committed to his faith. His journey reminds us of the profound, lasting impact your support has on each student's life, shaping them not only as learners but as compassionate leaders. Thank you for being an integral part of stories like his; they are a testament to the difference you make every day. https://lnkd.in/e53gwppp

Right now, TWO of our students have an exciting educational opportunity, but we need your help before September 15th to enroll them. Due to their outstanding educational performance in the STEAM program, two of our 12th grade students, Angie and Henry, have been invited to represent Honduras as part of a five-student team attending the FIRST Global Challenge, an Olympics-style robotics competition…in Greece! You can gift this once-in-a-lifetime experience for Angie and Henry to compete with students from 190+ other countries. To send them, we need your help to raise $8,000 before September 15th! “I feel very grateful that my peers and I can participate in the STEAM Program at El Hogar. I have been able to learn new skills and open my mind to new things, develop my imagination, creativity, camaraderie, and teamwork. I feel supported by my classmates and know that they are also part of this incredible opportunity. Going to Greece to compete will make me very happy!" – Angie, Aspiring First Global Challenge Competitor To read more about El Hogar and STEAM Education, visit: https://lnkd.in/eFNe7mBT To donate, visit: https://lnkd.in/dN4keWN

El Hogar Connects is a journey of learning and partnership Last month, visitors from Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church in Cincinnati and Christ Church Denver immersed themselves in the mission of El Hogar and the vibrant culture of Honduras. They engaged in meaningful discussions on education, development and caring for children from vulnerable circumstances and were able to experience the heart of our work firsthand. By spending time with our students, sharing stories, and exchanging ideas, our visitors have become an integral part of our El Hogar community. Together, we’re not just shaping brighter futures for our students but also fostering connections that will inspire change across borders. Thank you to everyone who joined us this year on an El Hogar Connects trip, and we invite anyone who is interested in coming to El Hogar to visit our website for more information including available dates for 2025 trips.
