The European Low Gravity Research Association (ELGRA) is a non-profit international society devoted to the promotion of scientific research under various gravity conditions in Europe. The organization, established in 1979, provides a networking platform for all scientists interested in life and physical sciences and technology in space or on ground. ELGRA aims at representing and strengthening the scientific community of gravity-related research and helping young scientists and engineers get involved in low- and hyper-gravity research through educational programs. The members and the addressees of ELGRA are: - Scientists at universities working in µg - Scientists of non-educational research organizations working in µg - Space science managers at national and international agencies (e. g. ESA, CNES, DLR) - Flight opportunities and operations managers and engineers (e. g. ESA, NASA) - Upcoming payload providers (e. g. Space X) - Engineers and business developers of Space Industries (big and small ones)

🌱🚀 Exciting News from Selenar Fungi team! ✨ 🌟 The team of four brilliant students have successfully conducted an innovative experiment at ESA’s ESTEC facility in the Netherlands! 🎉 The Selenar Fungi team used advanced technology to cultivate lettuce with mycorrhizal fungi in a simulated lunar environment and higher gravity conditions. 🌙🌱 🌿 Their groundbreaking research aims to understand the impact of gravity on mycorrhizal symbiosis, which could significantly enhance the prospects of successful plant growth on future lunar missions. 👩🚀🚀 💫 The experiment, part of the ESA Academy Experiments Programme, ran from 9 September to 9 October 2024, and involved meticulous design, assembly, and testing. 🔬🥬 After three visits to ESTEC facilities, the team collected precious data and returned to their home universities to process the findings 👩💻📊 🔎 To learn more about Team Selenar Fungi’s project, read the full story: https://lnkd.in/egtvecHx #ESAAcademy

🌱✨ Have you ever thought about the challenges of growing #plants in #space? 🌍🚀 Let's meet Selenar Fungi, a dynamic team of 4 students who investigate this fascinating topic! 🤩 🌿Plants are set to play a crucial role in future lunar exploration missions, whether as a food source, part of life support systems, or for scientific research. 👩🚀 🔬 Selenar Fungi team is participating in the ESA Academy Experiments Programme and their goal is to explore how a simulated lunar environment affects the growth of Red Romaine Lettuce and the efficiency of microbial symbiosis with mycorrhizal fungi - so cool! 🥬 🌙 Using ESA ESTEC’s Random Positioning Machine, they aim to uncover fascinating insights into plant growth in space. 🌌🌱 But that's not all!
