(Global Data). According to Reuters, Shell has determined that an oil discovery off the coast of Namibia is not commercially viable. Also, in a statement to Reuters by Shell, the hydrocarbon resources found in offshore block PEL39 "cannot currently be confirmed for commercial development".

Colombia Discovery Update! Petrobras and Ecopetrol have confirmed that the Sirius discovery, formerly known as Uchuva, has an in-place volume exceeding 6 Tcf. This announcement follows the completion of the Sirius-2 appraisal. Located 77 km off the coast, development would significantly boost the country's gas reserves. The consortium, comprising Petrobras (44.44%) and Ecopetrol (55.56%), plans to invest US$4.1 billion in exploration and development, aiming to bring gas production online by 2027. Using an innovative "subsea to shore" design, the partners will drill 4 wells that could produce 460 MMcf/d for 10 years. This production is contingent on commercial assessments and regulatory and environmental approvals, which, based on recent precedents, could pose challenges. Nevertheless, the project could significantly strengthen Colombia's energy security.
