𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐞𝐭-𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨: In response to public demand for clean energy, the global energy supply is transitioning from fossil fuels to a mix of non-carbon-emitting sources. While many countries are embracing net-zero by 2050, the US Energy Administration forecasts a transition period of 30 to 50 years, given the scale of changes needed throughout the energy value chain. Turbomachinery plays a crucial role in energy infrastructure and must be adapted to meet evolving needs of sustainable energy production. During this transition, the energy industry must handle existing hydrocarbons while developing technologies to process decarbonized fluids. Production, transport and storage of these key fluids will require turbomachinery OEMs to invest in new technologies, manufacturing processes, testing facilities and service networks. Demand for conventional turbomachinery for oil & gas energy is still growing. This presents a risky transition for manufacturers, with little spare capacity in the turbomachinery supply chain. EEE’s R&D Director, Klaus Brun, Ph.D., published an article on this dilemma in the Winter 2024 edition of Global Hydrogen Review. 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞: https://lnkd.in/eb6HMNFx
