"What really hits home are the moments that come long after a young person has left the program. Sometimes I’ll catch myself wondering how someone I worked with years ago is doing. Out of nowhere, the phone rings. It’s that same kid, now a young adult, calling to share their successes: how they got into college and are loving their classes, how they’ve repaired family relationships, or how they’ve been sober for years.” Read more from Aaron Staver about his work with Ellipsis: https://lnkd.in/dY225rMU

About us
Mission: We help kids and families build healthy relationships so they can write their own story. Ellipsis brings together Youth Homes of Mid-America (YHMA) and Youth Emergency Services & Shelter (YESS), both storied Iowa institutions with long histories of helping kids succeed. As Ellipsis, we create a community where kids and families are valued, hopeful, healthy and together. Our trained and compassionate staff members assess individual needs and create a plan to overcome obstacles. SAD is more than the occasional winter blues. It’s a type of depression that follows a seasonal pattern, most commonly occurring during the shorter, darker days of fall and winter. Just like adults, kids and teens can experience mild to severe cases of SAD. In fact, data suggests that up to 5.5% of 9- to 19-year-olds may deal with it. We aim to support kids in their next chapter, which is often adulthood! Through our Supervised Apartment Living program, kids learn to live independently in an apartment while still having help from our staff. To do that, they need house supplies that they’ll also take with them when they transition out of Ellipsis’ services. Please check out our apartment needs wish lists to find small ways to support our teens: https://bit.ly/4haruhB.

📢 Exciting news for Ellipsis! We’re honored to receive a $100,000 grant from the Polk County Iowa Board of Supervisors to support the Noble Campus, a key part of our mission to serve youth and families in our community. Noble Campus is being transformed from a two-story office space into a safe and supportive living space for girls in foster group care and in supervised apartments — currently an underserved need in our communities. A heartfelt thank you to the Polk County Board of Supervisors for investing in the future of our community’s youth. Together, we’re making a lasting impact! #EllipsisIowa #HopefulSpaces
