  • Ellis County offices and courts will be closed on Monday, November 11th in observance of the Veteran’s Day holiday. Why are the Historic Courthouse lights green? Ellis County is currently participating in Operation Green Light, a nation-wide initiative hosted by the National Association of Counties (NACO) to help connect veterans with helpful resources. Wherever veterans see these lights, they are “green-lighted” to know that their local government can help connect them with job recruiters, health benefits, mental & emotional support, and other important resources. The Ellis County Veterans Services Office has now moved to 302 N. Monroe St., Waxahachie and can be reached at 972-825-5099. To all those who have served, we salute you and are here to help. Thank you for your service! #VeteransDay #VeteransDay2024

  • Your Vote: Secure! Now that early voting for the 2024 General Election is underway, we wanted to assure voters that Ellis County administers elections according to the highest standards required by the Texas Constitution & Election Code. In accordance with the Texas Election Code, our Elections Department routinely inspects voter rolls to ensure that only qualified Ellis County residents are registered to vote, while mail-in ballots require a pre-approved application. Additionally, in 2022 Ellis County took the initiative to voluntarily adopt a system of sequential, pre-numbered ballots – a system which later became mandatory under orders of the Texas Secretary of State in 2024. Sequentially-numbered ballots ensure that election results can be accurately audited while still preserving voter privacy. For information about voting hours & locations, or for assistance with voting, please contact the Ellis County Elections Department at 972-825-5195. #election2024
