As email marketing developers, we all have that little list of best practices floating around in our heads that, for obscure reasons, we don’t always put into practice. Yeah you get it, 2025 is approaching, I'm talking about 🥁 New Year’s resolutions. Here are mine: 🌓 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐓𝐀 Yes, even in dark mode: more and more users are joining the dark side. 🎯 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐭 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 And style them. Accessibility is no longer an option, it's a necessity. 🖼️ O𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 Because email size matters. Always. 🧪 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐲 "𝐢𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤" Systematically test EVERY email before sending (thanks Sinch Email on Acid). 🧪🧪 𝐃𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐀/𝐁 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 It's not a one-shot process. Iterate, analyze, and adapt. 📢 𝐁𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐲@ Give your contact a voice, ask them feedback, engage conversation. 🧼 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞 Quality > Quantity And you, what are your email developer resolutions for 2025? Share them in the comments to receive my best wishes 😆 #emailgeek #MarketingStrategy #MarketingInsights #marketingAutomation #HTMLemail

🎤 *tap tap* Is this thing on? I tried sharing yesterday and got no traction but I jolly well want you to see it! "It's not what it looks like, officers, I swear! I wasn't sending spam, I just needed to share my deals with everyone! Ho ho holy night what have I done?!" [cue Santa sobbing into his beard] Poor Kris Kringle! 'Twas Monday morning and throughout the support queue, customers like Santa didn't know what to do. His "12 Days of Deals" campaign started off strong, with high open rates and clicks all week long. But on day 7, there arose such a clatter, he logged into his ESP to see what was the matter. The opens, they fell, while the spam complaints grew. What could be wrong? Only the deliverability team knew. I looked at his stats, and saw something amiss. He accidentally sent to his ENTIRE LIST! Not just subscribers or app users, oh no! He even included an old list from a trade show! Before we could stop it, the email was sent. The only thing left to do was see how Tuesday went. This one would do better, of that I was sure. Santa cleaned up his list, that was the cure! With careful targeting and engaging copy, the next campaigns fared better, though results were still choppy. It took him all month to recover inbox placement, and ol' Santa spent that time crying in the basement. "Next year will be better!", Saint Nicholas said, as he gave me a wink and patted my head. "I'll use double opt-in, I'll prune old contacts! I'll have a preference center, and maybe some snacks!" "Don't get carried away now, Mr. Claus!", I said. "Best practices are great, but subscribers don't need to be fed." We shared a laugh, and a cookie or two. Then he hopped in the sleigh, and away he flew. Let this be your lesson, while I have you here. Deliverability best practices are important all year! (Inspired by A Visit From St. Nicholas.) #deliverability

  • Here's an eye-opening chart from Rand Fishkin of SparkToro. It compares where brands allocate their budget to where customers spend time and are influenced. 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜...??? There's a tiny little sliver of budget going to #EmailNewsletters - just 1%. Compare that to the slice of pie for email in the inner circle. Now, that's probably one reason why we see those almost unbelievable stats about email marketing ROI all the time - as much as $40 for every $1 spent, right? But if you aren't investing in email, you're not getting a return. Whether it's budget or time and resources - investing in your email program is a smart move in 2025. Here are some things you could consider... ✅ Invest in building your list of subscribers who've opted in and really want to hear from you. ✅ Invest in improving deliverability so more of your messages reach the inbox. ✅ Invest in better segmentation, personalization, and A/B testing to make your emails more relevant. ✅ Invest in email quality assurance (email testing) to protect your investment in email marketing and make sure every email looks and performs its best. (Link to Rand's thoughts on these findings below!)

  • 𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? Next year, why not be 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 instead of perfect? While this pixelated meme could definitely be better, we have 5 suggestions for #emailgeek goals you can pursue in 2025. Believe it or not - they have nothing to do with dark mode or white lines in Outlook. Nobody's prefect. I mean perferct. But there are probably some things you can do to make the inbox a better place for everyone. Maybe we can't change the world... but we can change email. Start your email marketing resolutions early this year! 🎉 https://lnkd.in/gEa4w36T 🥳

  • New research from Sinch Mailgun found an increase in #DMARC adoption, but are too many senders using the WRONG DMARC policy? Find out why meeting Google and Yahoo's new requirement probably isn't the end of the story for DMARC policies. That's because using p=none fails to protect your domain or your subscribers from email scams that spoof your brand. Then - consider the benefits of actually enforcing DMARC. 🛑 📧 🎣 💡 Get the details here: https://lnkd.in/ggkhaj8n 👇 Explore many more results from Mailgun's 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 2025 👇 https://lnkd.in/g9tJuDbR

  • Have you seen this ad from Apple yet? If you ask us, Warren may want to split test his own email writing against #AppleIntelligence. We're willing to bet option "A" outperforms "B" in this scenario. And in reality, Warren's boss would probably know he used AI for this. (Also... who sends work emails from their iPhone when they're already sitting in front of a computer in a cubicle??)
