• PRIME MINISTER METTE FREDERIKSEN VISITED KYIV ⚡ On Tuesday November 19th, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen visited Kyiv, marking 1,000 days since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began. During the visit, she announced a significant step forward in Denmark’s support: an additional DKK 1 billion allocated for the purchase of military equipment directly from Ukraine’s defense industry. This brings Denmark’s total contributions through the innovative “Danish Model” to DKK 2.3 billion, with broad backing from the Danish Parliament. 🎤 “Denmark’s support for Ukraine remains unwavering. Ukrainians are fighting for the freedom of Europe and all of us. Europe must take greater responsibility for its own security, and that responsibility starts in Ukraine,” said Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen. 💡 Key highlights of the visit included: ✅ Discussions with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on defence, the victory plan, and Ukraine’s EU and NATO aspirations. ✅ A showcase of Ukraine’s cutting-edge long-range drones 🛩️ procured through Danish funding. ✅ Visits to a children’s hospital OkhMatDyt impacted by Russian attacks and a military hospital treating defenders. ✅ A wreath-laying ceremony at Moshchun, a site of early, intense fighting at the gate of Kyiv. ✅ Meetings with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Vice Prime Minister Olga Stefanishyna to explore further collaboration🤝. ⚔️ 🛡️ Denmark is proud to stand firmly with Ukraine, not only through financial support but as a committed partner in ensuring peace, security, and freedom in Europe. We encourage other nations to join us in stepping up their support for Ukraine’s defence and resilience.

  • ☕ WHAT IS THE SOUND OF YOUR COFFEE? 🎵 ⚡ These days the generators are again humming in the streets of Kyiv and across Ukraine as a reminder of the electricity shortage due to the energy system recovering after ten massive attacks by the Russians. So here the generator is the sound of a cup of coffee at the local café. A small point of resilience keeping the lights on and allowing customers to charge their mobile devices📱. 💡 We expect longer outages in the coming difficult winter months so it is important to raise awareness on the need to use energy responsibly and help incentivise investments in energy efficient solutions. This was exactly the purpose of an expert delegation visit this week from the Danish Energy Agency that is helping the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the State Agency for Energy Efficiency of Ukraine (SAEE) on ways to help both public and private companies get support for energy efficient measures as well as campaign initiatives to engage the broader public. 🔌 A hybrid seminar with stakeholders from government institutions, municipalities and international partners was conducted in a shelter basement to promote voluntary agreements for Ukrainian companies that can receive attractive loan conditions for energy efficiency and small-scale renewable energy generation projects through the Decarbonization Fund. The sense of urgency was underscored when electricity was lost due to a faulty backup-generator. Fortunately, the organisers were quick to reconnect the equipment with an Ecoflow and online users while Head of SAEE Anna Zamazeeva engaged the audience with singing the National Anthem. Such an inspiring example of Ukrainian resilience and ingenuity 💪 . 🔦 Anything that can help reduce the pressure on the energy supply this winter helps! 🤝 The Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine is proud to liaise this important work through the Ukraine-Denmark Energy Partnership Programme.
