  • War is a Disaster These weapons have a significant impact on our environment. It goes without saying, the weapons significantly impact humans as well as the people who are busy making war. The majority of individuals who joined the armed forces because it was a steady job, which gave them skills for the future. A percentage, because it is what their family did and it is expected. Precious few join because they want to go to war. When we are young and impressionable, we feel like we are impregnable fortresses. Nothing will touch us. Yesterday I watched an introduction to a charity that helps veterans by giving them a dog which eases trauma. They said ‘ more veterans have died by suicide and the number of American military personnel who were killed in combat during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan”. sunriseservicedogs.org patriotpaws.org freedomservicedogs.org #defensesystems #suicide #war #

And so the show and tell continues. Yesterday’s post continues - Read to the bottom 👇🏻 What cannot be denied is the innovation behind the tech in the new weapons and aircraft which is being announced. In the UK this is all done at Farnborough International Air Show which is for space, military and civil defense. https://lnkd.in/d8syWRKT My points:- The money that changes hands over weapons and so-called air defense is phenomenal. It’s also stupid because then they have to fight the countries who bought the defense systems 🤯 What is also making me angry and disappointed, is that ‘they’ are killing humanitarians. People who are trying to help other people and be neutral. Whilst that is a difficult task, (being neutral), it should be respected by all warring factions 😡 Without the Arms industry , or it’s more respected group term “Defense Systems industry”, imagine a world that had the possibility of living in peace. Where people only have to move because climate disasters have made the area of land, untenable and inhabitable. I do not approve of this escalation. This era is so exciting to many because they are unaware of the harsh realities of WWI and WWII. Our education system has failed them—and us. Or perhaps history wasn’t told compellingly enough to leave a lasting impact.🤷🏻♀️ The pressure to keep building up and up is too great and the megalomaniacs are in control. Mark my words, if we do not take back power we will all be dust and the Elon Musk’s and Jeff Bezos’s off this world will be sat in the Moon and Mars rubbing their hands with glee, laughing like hyenas and relishing in their success.

Sentencing review? How is that two people who hid a 13 year old child in a crawl space under a trailer and who beat that child with “a metal rod and other instruments, isolation, starvation, and psychological abuse” only got 10 years? A brief mention that there were 5 other children in that home. This is where the death sentence should be administered. Perhaps I’m extremist in my views 🤷🏻♀️ There is another side to this too. Is this the result of abject poverty over years? Plus a system that is so broken it’s irretrievably responsible and needs trashing? Being raised abusively causes people to behave abusively. That behavior is propagated onwards. The fine line: part of me thinks that people who have that history should be given extra care and a watchful eye so help can be received to circumvent any issues they have with parenting. Whilst that has good intentions, it can be invasive and be used against those individuals and they may never repeat the mistakes made to them. It’s not their fault their parents or relatives or other known party were abusive. How do we support these individuals throughout their life when everyone is so money pinching with their tax dollars. Of course corruption also plays into that scenario too. How to solve these social issues in a positive way? And be mindful that it is a ‘system’ which doesn’t meet every nuance of a person’s life! I hope this has given you food for thought. Please write your opinions below or send me a message. #socialdecay #abuse

  • USA Natural Disaster Risk Level - Check This Out! This is an incredibly good indicator of what the risk is for different disaster types across America. Just click on the Risk Level selector at the top left of the web page and select the options you believe are most applicable to where you live or where friends and relatives live. Don't forget to check out others as you may well be surprised. As we go forwards in time there will be increasing risks for natural disasters and already locations are finding they are dealing with two, one after the other. This too will increase. Dramatic changes to the way we deal with our lives has to take place in order to reduce these climate driven events. This is not politics, this is reality. https://lnkd.in/ge6fiu3K

Awareness: do you people watch? If you do not people watch then I recommend you start to do so, as it is a great skill and when you have done it enough you will do it automatically. You will also notice a lot more than you realize. I taught my kid to do that and now we discuss what we see. On one visit to Aurora, Colorado and we both identified gang members. The video below teaches you the next levels up. This video teaches you to be aware as you walk around - relaxed awareness is code yellow. You are less like to be a victim. Some felons were shown a series of photos and asked who they would or would not pick as their target. None of them selected people out of the photograph who were aware of their surroundings. What I want to teach or remind you is that "if you see something, say something" as it could save your life or someone else's. We do not live on this planet on our own, caring is sharing. There are non emergency phone lines to the police and there is also 911. Keep the non emergency number for where you live in your contacts. Do not, please, disregard the homeless as they need your help too. If someone is having difficult or being an issue for you, report it. Traveling to a Foreign Country: Know that if you are traveling to a foreign country they probably have different numbers to 911 and so you should learn what the emergeny number is for that country. Also, some no longer have 24/7 service, so again, make sure you are familiarize yourself before you travel and put the number in your contact list. I firmly believe that the more organized you are the less likely you are to need that information. Home Awareness: Know whether you closed your garage, locked your doors, locked your windows. Know if something is in the wrong place as it does matter. #awareness #safety #travelingoverseas #safetyawareness

PURPLE DAY - Recognizing Epilepsy Worldwide I would like you to take a minute and celebrate the Purple Day Act which took place on June 28th, 2012. Its purpose is to recognize epilepsy worldwide. Did you know that despite 85 countries taking part in Purple Day on March 26th, only one country, Canada, officially recognizes this day? Hurray for Canada! In my humble opinion, this is the kind of thing that should be set by a World Council and does not require time per country to ratify it. After all, no one can deny epilepsy exists! People with this condition need to know they are awesome. The rest of us need to be educated on how to help someone with epilepsy. I was in a store in London and a young man had a bad seizure. As he lay on the floor shaking I wasn’t sure what to do, even though I knew part of the answer - make sure they don’t swallow their tongue and keep a watchful eye. I was lucky and got someone to get help. I learnt what to do afterwards which could have been too late. Please go on a first aid course, or attend a free Community Emergency Response Training course (CERT). You learn all sorts of useful information and you get to meet new people too. The BEST solution education page for responding to a seizure / epileptic fit in my opinion is this one by the St John’s Ambulance: https://lnkd.in/g9Ae82Tj There are different types of epilepsy, some can be caused by strobing lights, flashing screens. Another type is absence seizures, my little one had those. People can and do die of them. Awareness is important, please take a minute to refer to expert guidance, and take a first aid course. It is time invested. The following web page gives a comprehensive explanation between epilepsy and seizures as well as explaining the part can genes play; and the different types. https://lnkd.in/g_aU3BCb New Research =========== Epilepsy and Deep Brain Stimulation This research brings great hope for the future. Clearly, it is still early days but for those people who have significant problems with epilepsy, especially where it cannot be treated by drugs or surgery, this is an immensely hopeful study. Equally, for those whose only option is very invasive surgery. https://lnkd.in/g7qjYTM7 Perhaps it is also something that can be researched on animals as well? Maybe it already has? If not, I think this would potentially be an interesting research project. Back in 2019, Martin Tisdall developed a minimally invasive technique called ‘laser ablation' to destroy epilepsy or malignant lesions through the use of a laser to destroy abnormal brain tissue in a targeted way which caused minimal damage to healthy tissue. Zeroing in on malignant lesions in deep and difficult-to-access areas of the brain.” #epilepsy #seizures #firstaidcourse #CERT #purpleday #purpledayact

Artificial Intelligence: how LinkedIn is using us to refine its engine. Multiple points… 1. Who gets that data from here? Where does LinkedIn sell yours and my data? 2. Hacked As this platform is developed in India and probably multiple other locations, what is their legal obligation to advise users if they have been hacked? This naturally leads me to the questions a) how ethical is this organization? b) What level of security is applied to their databases and systems and how good is their data resilience. My personal experience of this organization is that it is not at the desired level! The picture below is what started me off on writing this post. You see, I keep getting these prompts. I realized recently they are using it to train their AI engine. How much of that information is being tied to me personally? Hopefully not a lot as it’s a flunky platform! When you click on the ‘Answer’ button, laughably it tells you the answer. Adjacent to that, you write your reply and you can look at others contributions. It’s annoying and time wasting and yet I and many others still keep answering this in the hope it will promote our profile. It doesn’t. The reason being, LinkedIn whilst it works to some extent is a platform that could do with significant improvement. Actually I’ve given up. Organization Attentiveness and Call Center Responses are part of the way I judge the efficiency and effectiveness of an organization. Equally, of note is how well an organization responds to feedback. To explain, if feedback is given to a company, we very rarely get any response or feedback ourselves as to whether our recommendation or complaint has been actioned. This is a critical failure in my expert opinion. Companies cannot afford to be sitting on their laurels. To me, this is basic customer service! #AITRAINING #customerservice #customerfeedback #dataresilience #dataprotection
